And about toddlers. I didn't realize you still can't assign them orders. Because I can actually click on them now (unlike babies). He's tired, but I can't get an action command for the crib. I guess I'll try to have my other sims put him to bed.

And how do you train your kids? are there commands in the talking menu for that?

I don't have any time to play today though . I have homework to be doing. In fact, I shouldn't even be posting here. And I have to do laundry, and get halloween decorations up... And with school, I won't get a chance to play until Wednesday. But I'm happy with my choice so far. I should get at least 50 hours of play, and that is my goal in a game. To at least get that much. Something I did not do with doom3- I shouldn't have bought into the hype. But I did buy into the hype with this game.

Lol thats the story of my Romantic Sims lives. And it's kinda lame that despite never letting them out the house they STILL end up with the best aspiration. They should be called horny sex kittens or something.

That reminds me. How much do you guys control your sims? I still micromanage them like I did in Sims 1. I rarely let them go on their own free will. Although I suppose I can with my wife now she quit her job. Hopefully she's smart enough to take care of the kid. This is why I find the game challengin enough and not too easy. Because I control everything- even if that means pausing the game to reassign order. And I have 5 of those money trees I have to harvest every 8 hours. I'm not sure if it's worth it for an extra $200.

I tend to micromanage my Sims a lot to get them into platinum mood before going to work.

Money trees are more trouble than their worth, IMHO smart hats, energizers, smart milk, and the love tub are the best things to spend AP on. Better to spend that time getting them platinum mood for a promotion then harvesting chumps change from the tree (and you have to water the stupid things).

I ask if it's worth it because I have a decent amount of money. but really nothing to spend it on. I could build a bigger house, but what's the point? Smaller houses are more efficient.

Well if you have a decent amount of money then you need a Fortune Sim . I've never really ended up with too much money, I build "sprawl" houses mostly, with plenty of space to avoid traffic jams, all 2-wide doors, that sort of stuff. You need a lot of space for career awards and all that other junk too. Depends how big your current lot is ofcourse.

But what I mostly spend my money on is getting the very best stuff. You definitely need best bed, best tub & shower, best kitchen stuff and atleast one form of "+10" entertainment... then you can start getting the more frivilous stuff like the best toilet.

Toddler Training:
Usually you click the adult, then the options are on the toddler, Teach to Talk/Walk. To Potty Train select an adult then click on the potty and it'll be one of the options. Also thats how you use the diaper changer thing. Toddlers can be ordered to move, and you can order them to use certain things like toys and the potty (once trained). And toddlers can also beg adults for food/attention, not a bad way to get visiters to do some work.


I'm playing this family, comprised of two adults, the Man being Family, the Woman being Popularity. They had thier first baby, so I ordered another - and then the wife had TWINS! This gives me one toddler and two babies to look after (I'm going to get them all into private school, or atleast be overacheivers), as well as getting both adults to the top of their careers and make some more babies! Also the house is about the cheapest two-story house in Pleasentville, I'm going to stick with the tiny block and expand the house as a bit of a challenge. Might need to try multiple stairs and see if that helps the "bandwidth" problem.

Man 3 children are such a handful to manage, reached military general with one parent but thats a suck job so I changed straight to Superstar for more promotion pay (I like how you can find high level jobs now). The good bit is I should be able to max out atleast 1 skill for each child before they become teenagers. If I max out creativity for two of them then I can set up a nice child-labor painting racket and make some money , but getting their homework done and their jobs is going to be a challenge, and to think with my first family the teenage daughter could barely manage her homework . The house needs to be redesigned because it's nearly impossible to get the family down the stairs in time for school. Damn stairs. Tempted to just buy a bigger place and build my usual sprawl.

Am I the only one whos paintings keeps dissapearing? Last time I played (yesterday) I had a painting (still painting, not pre-made) hanging on the wall in the bed-room, but today it's gone... I know I didn't sell it, and I know I didn't exit without saving or anything like that...

Twins are just random chance I guess.

So far in all my playing my Sims have had 6 pregnancys, 1 of which was twins. I would guess that puts the probability somewhere between 1 in 5 and 1 in 15. Another possible factor is that this was the second pregnancy for this sim.

I had a painting disappear once, like I clicked to move it, and it vanished without a trace.

and what's the deal with the people stealing the garden gnomes? I've had a few disappear. And sometimes my sims get an action window that pops up saying to steal back garden gnome (though they don't actually seem to do it)

still playing. I think I'm one level below the top scientist position. I had to drink some of that elixer of life before I ran out of time and became an elder.

But it's difficult getting my skills up. I have 2 vacation days, I'm going to need them. I still have to get my cooking up 2 more. and my cleaning up 1 more. and make 4 more friends.

And I have twins in the house. they are a handful. My other toddler is now a teenager. funny I never did finish potty training her. Once she becomes a kid she doesn't have to potty train I guess. I guess none of those things matter, it's just for those ambition achievment things I guess. And now my twins are toddlers. It's hell keeping up with them. I hired a maid, but it's still a pain.

I just want to get that top scientist position.

I must say, that maid outfit that chick wears is pretty damn hot.

Heh. I've been playing around a bit more. With my latest family I did move them out of the small house and built a sprawl with a nice, big basement. Big enough to fit a pool if I'm that way inclined. The adults grew old too fast, so I gave them each about 7 drinks of elixer to add 21 days to their adult lives, about doubled. It was long enough so that they were just retiring as their kids became adults, this seemed good considering they started having kids from pretty much day 1.

The Kids all have good careers.
The eldest, is a Criminal Mastermind. She is also a talented artist and has sold a great novel and several great paintings (however she didn't paint most of them , still gets the Aspiration!). So I'm having fun with popularity, I didn't know that Popularity can be VERY fullfilled with no friends at all, just by getting lvl10 creative and being a great artist!
So she writes great Crime Novels, that happen to be true

Then the boy-twin became a medical doctor, I think he's disatisfied with his life, so I'm going to move him into into the Bunker of Mad Science on The Hill Where they will Adopt Toddlers then Kill Them to get Some Ghosts. He did get into some teenage relationships while I wasn't paying attention.

The girl-Twin became a Lesbian and pursued a career as a Cook. She has made out with 3 different Sims (one the Woman that delivers the bills). No woohoo yet, I think that Gay sims need a better relationship for that. Her career and skills are behind the others, thats the price of having lesbian relationships. One day she is going to host a TV show called "The Gay Cook" or something

One day I noticed my Sim using the telescope, and spying on Mortimer. I ran my Sim into the basement but Mortimer tracked her down into the basement. Something snapped, and magically a green picket fence sprung up, entrapping Mortimer.

For a few days muffled moans emanated from the Dungeon.


Bet Mortimer wishes he learnt to use the computer now.

Mortimers Gravestone now graces the beach of my waterfeature. Sometimes Sims look at it and shrug. I wonder if a messy, grouchy Sim will pee on the grave of someone they hate I know they pee in the shower and on bushes and stuff.

actually this is my good family, I shouldn't have been messing around.

I haven't even touched the evil portion of this game yet. I'm still going to go all the way to having grandchildren. after that I'll probably start another family.

My daughter is a teen. There sure are a lot of teen years. doesn't seem proportional to the number of adult years...

I want her to do well. making money is her- what do you call it? Life's goal or whatever. She's going into a business career. **** men, this girls going all the way to the top. My other daughter I'll probably pick romance, and she will bear some grandchildren. As for my son, I may choose sports, and have him be a sports star.

At times i kinda regret killing Mortimer, because he spooks around the place stealing my Sims food and making them sick But it's all worth it to see him leap out of a painting a Sim is working on

The massive news is that I finally worked out how to change the Sims outfit! Remarkably, it involves going to a clothes store and buying new clothes! Wow! No more hand-me-downs for my Sims.

I'm playing an Artist Sim atm, no job, just full time painting and novel writing. The income is pretty good, soon I'll be able to afford walls for my toilet . Just kidding, he currentely has a 1 room house with the toilet, shower and double bed all outside, he also has 17K in cash, I think he makes about $800 a day.
He is "WooHoo friends" with the Criminal Mastermind daughter from my earlier family, he has WooHoo with her every night to help him sleep, and take care of social.
