Once in a CtP2 MP game i had some 24 Knights doing nothing so just before getting Cavalry i threw them one-by-one at my opponents border city, i didnt take the city obviously, but it started at size 12 and ended at size 5 and the 40% chance of killing a pop by assault is the same in CtP1, although i havent had the chance to use it in CtP1 yet.

is that a flat 40% chance independent of unit strengths, city walls, ... ?

AFAIK it is independant. Its in const.txt:

BOMBARD_KILL_POP_CHANCE 0.1
ASSAULT_KILL_POP_CHANCE 0.4
CAPTURE_KILL_POP_CHANCE 1.0

The loss of 2 pop in a city is problably because you first attack the troops in the city and no matter if you win or loose the attack the pop can decrease with 1. Then if you capture it, the pop will drop 1 more.

LOL blackice , GL died 3 years ago at least, get on with your life.
I pretty much only play Yoda these days so i dont what your on about. And he wins about 60% of the time.
If you played this game half as much as you ***** and moan, you might have been able to beat me. Theres plenty of players taht play online that are just as good as me , so if you dont believe how good i am, play necheav Attila filix of Grafxfx. Cause i doubt we will ever play again LOLOLOLOL

Paul, it was a big deal for me to beat you just the once (we played three or four times?).. And in the game where I was taking your cities, you just blanked me totally on a continuation.. I don't know whether I would have won, but I have to say you left me to assume that you THOUGHT I could win, and as such refused to continue.

I played Yoda once, and got the distinct impression I would have no chance whatsoever of beating him. Filix, I played, and he is a great opponent and prepared to spend time analysing the result.

I do not feel confident to play against certain people now, although my on line game seems to be pretty good. I think I simply do not know most people, and well frankly do not trust their integrity, which is a shame. I prefer to play the straight forward unmodded game with no cracks, no cheats and well since I know and have seen demonstrated what people CAN do, I am lead to assume some people WILL do..

Sometimes in a game..you see things that make you ponder how could that be possible

Like when playing Blackice one day..he is a great player BUT well..er.um..he had some units that I never could build or research

Played and beat Blackice last night. Was a great game, but I had better land and far better trade available..

Blackice has been banned for speaking his mind.. It is not much of a forum where it is so heavily moderated that we cannot do such a thing.. He contributes far more than most people, and his comments promote healthy debate.. Each person has the right to reply to anything that is said, and for a third party to intervene as Judge and Jury is unacceptable in my opinion.

Who banned blackice? And when? I was banned once for using foul language ... and rightly so. Keep the words clean otherwise this forum turns into just another grammar school cuss word -- (oh my! ) -- chat room.

I am not sure who banned him quinns, the reason would be for suggesting that Paulno1 did not quite tell the truth, and well I remember Paulno1 saying he did ramp, then denied it afterwards.. This is not a libelous comment, as it actually was said which is the irritating thing. Now I have just repeated something I know to be true do I get banned too??

I am irritated by this whole debacle, and maybe chance should be given to clear it up?

Paulno1, do you accept that in old Gameleague days you used to rush buy switch , and never told your opponents?

Was it you that discovered ramping? Or who told you?

I had a save on my old computer of a game with Paul (and several other players) which showed Paul ramping.. I wish I had it now. We all know this happened in the past, and I do hope thats what it is the past..

I have seen in action a game breaker, SPECIFICALLY written by someone to cheat at CTP.. It was written not for Esoteric reasons, but to cheat.. It is when used difficult to detect, I wonder who it is that was using it.. For sure someone was..
