  • I have an idea

since you people are bickering like you actually were in the Planetary Council...

why not create a Planetary Council thread? there, we'll debate, argue, and so on politics in Chiron Chronicles... and vote on stuff and so on. That way, it shouldn't lag the pace of the game thread each player represents the choosing faction and their ideals and so on.

whenever the council makes a decision or whatever, will become official in the game and also announced by our various news groups, if any

should be fun something to do then always write the story or argue player vs player in the discussion where can do it leader vs leader, atleast representives

For the techs, just copy the techs another faction has, make sure that you have 3-5 less than the Cyborgs and University. Then choose which ones you want to replace some of them. There was a formula (designed by me) but we have elected to ignore it.

The three main candidates is Morgan, Roze and Lal. So the Chiron Alliance is split up vote wise.

I can see the Gaians vote for Lal

Morgan may get Spartans to vote again, but doubt it as they are selling stuff to Cult of Planet...but Morgan would also be offering money again

I can see Morgan definatly getting votes again from University(maybe not) and Hive.

Cyborgs would mostly likely go for Roze, especially with soured relations with the Peacekeepers.

I see the Free Drones voting for Roze, like seriously. Morganites and Drones may share some things, but Free Drones don't like the morganites due to the way they treat their drones, especially if they find out about the Morganites buying "slaves" from Hive. (they would be smuggled) Free Drones have the Pirates concerning distributing their goods and Domai insterated in improving relations. Domai as also have to be careful, with Spartans and Hive has neighbours :P

anyway, each person will vote in the Planetary Council thread once the game starts :P and the main cantidates may have to write a campaign message or whatever not something we should agree on right away in the discussion thread.

      • I second LordLMP's suggestion of the PC thread. It's ideal for diplomatic intrigue, which IMO is one of the best aspects of this kind of games.
Cake and grief counseling will be available at the conclusion of the test. Thank you for helping us help you help us all!

          • Okay, there is the coordinates of bases, outposts, crossfire landmarks and etc... Maps sent to all the players (which i hope i got the emails right)...aswell copy pasted the coordinates :P
i forgot to put a subject on the email too, so no viruses (but do scan anyway)

So far, only the Pirates, Spartans and Cult is taken care of concerning having new bases. I gave the peacekeepers back their temple of sol... maybe the pks rebuilt the base from the ruins... base was destroyed in the first Spartan War. And by having it back, PKs got the middle of the defence line covered.

So i suggest we take care of the bases, then me post history of pirates aswell as any other factions that hasn't done so. Then we agree or not with the current history, then we can start

Okay... well, then the Peacekeepers would definitely be hanging out in this neutral zone, not in anyone's territory (although they would still be tromping back and forth across the borders escorting aid convoys and stuff like that...)

Guess I should have a look at the map and figure things out before I write more about this...

Excellent idea! When can we start?

Oh, and as for the other stuff... I'll get my bases/map stuff sorted out within another day or two.

                • I think the Planetary Council thread is a great idea too. It will stop delayed votes from slowing down the game thread. Brilliant plan.

And if people don't object, I'd like to get Roze's campaign underway. I've got a few ideas that won't conflict with any gameplay.

By the way, "Morgan Bank" has been officially renamed "Data Bank" (those crazy hacker's and their cheezy puns). As for bases, perhaps just a couple more sea bases (just size one, no major expansion) somewhere in the north? The Angel will have been focusing on perfecting what they've got and upgrading their military.

You're probably right, although we might not be all that sour anymore. I imagine the Data Angels might have done something by now to try to get us all back on a sound footing. After all, they wouldn't want two of their best friends stay mad at each other forever and sour the mood in the entire alliance, would they?

Of course, this is Argonaut's turf, but... well, you know, we Peacekeepers were pretty pissed off back there and Aki's explanation didn't help much, but if our good friends the Angels tried to talk to us about it all, we would definitely listen...

                    • Of course, with you two not talking to each other, that means you'd probably have to come through me for a great deal of exchanges. This could be far more profitable than investing time and effort into making you two friends again. As long as the Alliance isn't threatened......

But then, Roze would never do something that manipulative

                      • Sorry, I forgot to mention something to Lord LMP. Assuming you're not way ahead of me with the map, I'd like to specify two new Angel bases.

One is Gibson Base at (66,18) on the Isle of Deianira, a little NorthWest of The Sprawl....we need to prevent too much Morganite expansion

The other is Tinker Junction (75,61) just south of Atlantisville (it's a seabase). It'll serve as a bit of a buffer protecting our most valuable sea base once it's population gets going and infrastructure can be improved.

Heh... right... (Don't get me started... )

Anyway, I never said we wouldn't talk to the Cyborgs, but yeah, I guess you would be getting some extra attention from us both this way. -And I guess being friends with the Peacekeepers doesn't mean you'll always act like them.

Just don't cross into too many gray areas, okay?

                          • Planetary Council thread will start when the game starts. And doesn't have to be completly serious...could be a bit entertaining

Argonaut - 4 bases in total or just Gibson and Tinker?

Will go and do my Pirate history and there some events/incidents i want the pirates to be involved in... like a Cult/Believer naval battle not to far from a pirate seabase.... Nessus Sea incident with the believers...the Pirate protest near Fleet Anchorage and a few skirmishs concerning territorial waters :P (Pirates are quite territorial...not as much towards Data Angels, Free Drones, Cyborgs, Gaians, Peacekeepers and sometimes the cult. but will still a good watch :P), Deneiara War (lasted to long to be considered a incident, but ain't a official war either), Pirate beachhead evacuation of Kane's forces, incidents concerning Morgan Air and Naval transports shipping stuff to cult when they started, Pirates started cracking down on human slave smuggling from hive to morganites/university, pirates harassing Hive transports going to Believer territory, some problems with the Spartans concerning the Athen Outpost, cold war thing with the Spartans...meaning a covert war :P, etc

Svensgaard is not very active in the Planetary Council, except when the council is focusing on them about somethings...mainly does devil advocate type comments.

Both the Spartans and the Pirates have Power values, and have similar beliefs on somethings. both populaces may get along easily and have their interesting bar fights (some good ones at Blast Rifle Crag, one or two at the Planetary Council Base, a big one at Morgan Industries during the Global Trade Summit, etc) But government wise, don't trusts each other.
Svensgaard was happier to have Santiego back as leader has he didn't like Kessel.

I think it would be safe to say that Kessel didn't much like Sven either. But Kessel still plays an important role in Spartan affairs.

Got the map Now I'm just waiting to get things rolling. Are we going to start the Planetary Council thread before the game. Maybe get going on the election part of it anyway. Spartans would like to bring some things up for consideration. Are we sticking to the one issue per 20 years or is it a little more informal than that?
Which side are we on? We're on the side of the demons, Chief. We are evil men in the gardens of paradise, sent by the forces of death to spread devastation and destruction wherever we go. I'm surprised you didn't know that. --Saul Tigh

                              • I've received the map file, but haven't been able to download it because the only computer at my house that's connected to the Internet is a piece of junk. By Monday (Australian time) I should have it. In the meantime, I'll try and build it from scratch (using Alpha Centauri original - a pox on the weak Australian economy!).

Planetary Council thread is a good idea, and I certainly hope we're NOT only having one issue every twenty years. Sorry I seem to have missed so much. Even without the map, I'm willing to begin anytime.

As to business, let me just pose the question to all leaders as to who they want as Governor: a man with a proven record of success in business and other legitimate activities, a woman whose most notable pre-Unity achievement was being tried for computer hacking by a U.N. tribunal, or a man whose idealism is not matched by his energy (save when it involves other people's countries).

As soon as time and security permits, I would also like to start thinking about salvaging whatever we can from the Unity Wreckage. The fusion core and computer systems could prove invaluable to commerce and research, especially in the areas of aeronautics and spaceflight.

LordLMP and all other writers, thank you very much for all the work you've put into this game. I sincerely hope I can do justice to the marvellous setup.
