It was an error in my interpretation of the rules - I thought that it would make the winning bid x+1 with any over bid coming back to you and I was willing to outbid anyone up to 73. Also, I'm not as bent about getting Witten as I dont forsee any of us really riding waivers that hard - he may very well be the most valuable player to hit waivers this year and I have crap at Tight End. I'll probably go for free agents rather than waivers 2 weeks before they blow up anyway

Indeed. This isn't ebay (with automatic bids), this is a straight final-bid auction.
Witten probably won't be the most valuable player to hit waivers, but he might be close. I considered making a 'high' bid for him as well, but decided against it given my TE is decent. If we had a decent bench size that wouldn't really be an issue, but since everyone and their mother has two TEs due to the absurd bench size, it does make it a bit of a factor.<Reverend> IRC is just multiplayer notepad.

What, Witten for Michael Floyd? Never considered it. In what universe is it smart to give up a starting-caliber WR for a player about to be dropped?
