I have tried very hard over the past year or two to avoid OT conversations with Ben Kenobi. Sometimes I fail, but I do try to stay away. The reasons for this are many and should be obvious to regular posters. I have, however, tried to compartmentalize those views when it comes to the Sports subforum. In Sports, stupid and insupportable opinions are just part of being a fan. There is no harm in asserting that Flutie should be enshrined in Canton or that the Cubs will win a World Series.

In the OT, Ben regularly uses the technique of posing a strawman or question tangentially related to the thread topic, one whose obvious answer, if provided, will be used as "proof" of Ben's POV or assertion. Most people ignore this transparent attempt to change the discussion. He then harasses his opponent by continually posting that they should "just answer the question," suggesting they are the ones who are being intransigent.

It's a fundamentally dishonest and, frankly, not terribly clever way of redirecting a conversation.

My accusation in this thread was intended to give Ben a taste of his own medicine, and it worked better than I had hoped. Ben's reaction -- refusing to support his assertions with evidence he must have, thus raising suspicion that his original statement was a fabrication, then attempting to place the burden of proof on an accuser who cannot possibly hold the evidence of his original assertion -- speaks volumes. And he still hasn't answered the question.

I can only conclude that Ben Kenobi is perfectly willing to make up lies in order to "win" an argument.

And? We aren't in OT here. What rationale would there be for me to make it up? Seriously. I was surprised there wasn't more demand for Witten. So I dropped him and rolled the dice with Walker. C'est la vie.
