  • That comparison isn't fully fair imho. Hoyer had at least a bit of NFL experience and a big arm, while Jason Campbell was atrocious both with the 2012 Bears and in preseason for Cleveland.
Yates at least won a playoff game, while Keenum is an undrafted practice squadder with zero experience.

    Just seems weird.

    • I guess at 2-4, Kubiak wants to take a chance. He knows what he has in Yates and it's low upside. The thing is, what has made this team so much worse than the 12-4 team of last year? Is Kubiak being premature in swinging for the fences with Keenum over the ho-hum Yates?

Yes, the Ravens, 49ers, and Rams kicked their asses but the first two were last year's SB teams and the Texans did take the superb Seahawks to OT before losing by a FG.

I'm not sure them being 2-4 is very meaningful because it looks like they're a better team even with Schaub's mistakes than 2-4 indicates. They just had some tough matchups. They might be better off playing safe with Yates, not looking for a 'spark' in Keenum.

HOUSTON -- Texas legend and former Houston Oilers head coach Bum Phillips has died.

        He was 90.

His son, Houston Texans defensive coordinator Wade Phillips, posted a tweet saying, “Bum is gone to Heaven-loved and will be missed by all -great Dad, Coach, and Christian.”
Houston Chronicle sportswriter John McClain tweeted, "When he died, Bum Phillips was trying to raise money to build the home for deaf children on his ranch."

        • Quintessential badass coach. May he RIP.
Loved that team when they had Pastorini and Earl Campbell. Had them in a Strat-o-matic league back in the day.

          • I was an Oilers fan at that time, Bum will be missed.

A friend of mine has family that lives in Goliad. He says it what common to go to the local Dairy Queen and find Bum talking with the other old-timers.

                • Brandon Meriweather is the same dirty, filthy, undisciplined headhunter he always was.

That's two clearly intentional head shots today. He should be thrown out of the league.

                  • As the resident Skins fan, I agree. So far this year he's hurt opposing players, himself, and his teammates. And provided just about no value to go along with that. And drawn flags at crucial moments for his dirty play.

                    Fun game, though.

                    • Yeah... it was an exciting game. A bummer that the Bears lost, but **** happens.
It would have been nice to be 5 and 2 going into the break.

It's Good News and Bad News for the Bears.
The good news is that they are going into the bye week and don't play again until 2 weeks on Monday Night.
                      Hopefully some people can heal.
The Bad News is they are playing Green Bay on a Monday Night in Green Bay, and it's highly possible that the Bears will be 4 - 4 after that game and then going into a short week facing the Lions. At least that game will be in Chicago.
                      Keep on Civin'

                      • One of the strangest Bears games I've seen. Never thought that the back up QB could keep the team marching down the field and keeping them in the game. Definitely one of the strongest games by a back up. Too bad the defense kept letting RG do the same thing to them. Bulls**it call on the first ever successful onside kick by Robbie Gould and too bad they couldn't review the missed FG (though it was probably the right call).

Yes, Ming, good thing they have the bye week and then a Monday night game even if it is in Green Bay. Probably will need a miracle for that one which will be an important game. Got to get the defense fixed somehow. Sigh!!

                        • yeah the bears suck

And with Cutler out, their season is over.

Also, RG3 better learn to pass more or he's going to get knocked out of the league. He won't last more than a few seasons running around like that... unless he goes to prison for dog fighting.

                          • 4 weeks out for Cutler is the report. So no Cutler for Packers or Lions games. Maybe he might make it back for game against Baltimore? The Bears could be 4-6 by the time Cutler comes back. The good news is that after the Baltimore game, they face StL, Minn, Dallas, Clev, and Phil before finishing against the Packers.

Does 9-7 get you into the playoffs? It looks like there will only be one wild card spot available with the Seahawks or 49ers taking the other one.

                            • I look on the bright side. There is no way now that the Bears will pay up 120 mil to Cutler. Disaster averted.

While I still can't believe he wasn't tossed out of the game yesterday, at least the NFL is doing something about it:
