  • If you went 1-13, you had other problems besides drafting Fitzgerald.
True, I had bad luck too. If I split all my close matches instead of going 0/6 I'd have a 5 win team.

Anyways, I'll never draft Fitz again. Fitz was on my 'let someone else worry about him' every year list. I only took him off that list because I wanted to try some different players this year. I could have chosen anyone else at WR and gotten a better player. Lesson learned, Fitz. Loud and clear.

Next year, I'll just stick to my 'players that I like list'. I got burnt by Fitz, and trying something different. I know what works, stick to that and eventually I'll win.

            • Gentlemen of the IDP and Auction Leagues: Thanks for a very enjoyable season.

Adding the third and fourth Poly FF championships to my Yahoo trophy case this year has been a distinct pleasure. Playing two very different rule sets and draft systems, winning both leagues was more than I dared hope for. And while things fell my way this week, still, it was nice to do it in style, leading both leagues in scoring in the title games.

Looking forward to defending in 2013.

Congrats on your D/ST victory, Jaguar.

Top 10 fantasy busts of 2012

A mere five months ago fantasy owners were planning their draft strategies with one goal in mind.

                        Fantasy Victory!

It has been a season filled with ups and downs and with shrewd trades and waiver wire moves the hope for every owner is that they end up playing for a championship. Let us take a look back and review the top ten fantasy busts of the 2012 season. Guys who flat out didn't get the job done and "torpedoed" your season.

                        10. Antonio Gates (ADP #44):
From the "damn, he got old fast" department we bring you Antonio Gates. The third tight end off the board in most drafts, Gates is on target to put up his worst fantasy numbers since 2003. He topped 50 yards only three times and scored only five touchdowns in a disappointing season.

                        9. Greg Jennings (ADP #29): Thankfully, Jennings had the Old Spice commercials to fall back on. Otherwise we may have forgotten what he looked like. Injured for much of the year, Jennings played in only six games and pulled in 21 catches for 201 yards and a touchdown. Not exactly stellar numbers for a number one receiver. If fantasy owners are going to draft Jennings next year, it may be on a show like Dancing with the Stars in which he will most likely under perform.

                        8. Maurice Jones Drew (ADP #13): MJD has played in only six games this season. Outside of a week three game against Indy, there hasn't been a 100+ combo yard game and Drew has scored only twice. What is more disappointing is that his status of three named runners has plummeted. He has dropped from first to third behind BenJarvus Green Ellis and LeRod Stephens-Howling.

                        7. Matthew Stafford (ADP #12): After his monster season that saw Stafford throw for over 5,000 yards and 41 touchdowns, the Detroit slinger vaulted up the pre-season rankings. Stafford fell back to the pack faster than Charlie Sheen's career post Three and a Half Men. Logic would tell you after you throw 41 touchdowns you would probably slide into the 30 touchdown range somewhere. Not Stafford. Heading into championship weeks he has thrown for 17 scores. Seventeen! To boot, he has thrown 15 interceptions. That is simply not acceptable for a quarterback who has the best receiver in the game.

                        6. Larry Fitzgerald (ADP #20): Fitz is arguably the most talented receiver in the NFL. In his 10th season, he is wasting away in Arizona. His 61 catches for 674 yards and four touchdowns are amazing considering he has Larry, Moe and Shemp of the Three Stooges throwing him the ball. He topped 100 yards in only one game this season and more telling, hasn't topped 35 yards and scored in five weeks.

                        5. Darren McFadden (ADP #8): It's time to play "let's see how many Run DMC songs we can incorporate to McFadden's season". If you were looking for McFadden to run and not "Walk This Way", you were seeking a little more than the three touchdowns and 858 combo yards. Injuries once again proved "It's Tricky" with McFadden once again as he has played in only 10 games to date and has failed to play in more than 13 games in his entire NFL career. If you counted on McFadden your quest for a championship was squashed early. Yes, "It's Like That".

                        4. Calvin Johnson (ADP #7): His 1667 yards heading into week 16 are near a career high with two games (one from a fantasy perspective) to play. Here's the rub. After a 16 score season a year ago, we expected a little more than five touchdowns. He has been a beast down the stretch yardage wise with seven straight 100+ yard games. 28 other receivers have more or as many touchdowns as Megatron which for the seventh pick in the draft is unacceptable.

                        3. LeSean McCoy (ADP #4): Concussion issues kept McCoy out of the lineup after week 11, but if we are being honest, he played concussed the entire season. After his monster season of 20 touchdowns and six multiple score games a year ago he logged one and only five touchdowns total on a Eagles team that was disgustingly bad. You thought Lindsay Lohan was a train wreck? Try McCoy's fantasy value.

                        2. Ryan Mathews (ADP #19): Want a sure fire way to waste a late round first or early second round pick? Select Ryan Mathews. Even Charch can't make an excuse for him now. Mathews has scored one touchdown the entire season and his 707 yards rushing puts him 22nd behind Reggie Bush and for the love of God Michael Turner. We're done with Mathews and if you are planning your draft strategy for 2013, you should be too.

                        1. Chris Johnson (ADP #9): If you owned Y2CJ or whatever he is being touted as this year, you probably drove your vehicle off the road early as he produced four clunkers out of his first five games and didn't score a touchdown until week seven against Buffalo. His 4.8 yards per carry is decent, but Johnson provided way to much famine for his owners. We don't hate many things here at FV, but Chris Johnson is one of them.

                            • With four teams, I inevitably had a couple of those guys.

Poly Auction League: I had Megatron (for big bucks), but I didn't consider him that big of a bust. In fact, I think it's a bit disingenuous to put him on this list considering he broke the single-season yardage record. In non-PPR, TD-heavy scoring, maybe a different story. Scoring rules in Auction rewards yardage, and I ended up winning the league.

I had Chris Johnson in the FFZ Online league. I thought he was a bargain, sitting there at the #18 pick. He was brutal. That team finished 6-8.

Not that I'm complaining. Gee, I'd hate for Ben to think I was ungrateful...

                              • Yeah, of all these players I only had Fitz, and only because he fell to the 24th pick. Oh and I had a duty to pick MJD again considering as he deiivered a win last year.
