My problem is this-- Luongo is in his prime right now and frankly if I had to pick a goalie for the key game and could pick any goalie today, I am NOT picking Luongo. To be top 5 all time you should be THE GUY people would pick for a few years in their prime (Brodeur is past his prime)
Luongo? His final game implosions of the last couple of years plus a shaky looking Olympic final mean he is not the guy right now. One really stellar playoff could change that view a bit and he could lose the "chokes" label. Two good runs and people might start to see him as a clutch guy. Right now . .. many knowledgeable hockey people, including many Canucks fans, fear that Luongo might choke when the chips are down.
You could correctly point out that the Canadian team looked to Luongo last year. But that was done as Mason had imploded, Ward was injured and Fleury was not really great last year (his worst year of the past 5. At the time he was the best option of the 5 but I don't think his play solidified him as a " go to " guy.

Chicago and Detroit played an awesome game. Props to Detroit for trying so hard in a game that didn't mean that much. If I were Vancouver I would be hoping for a Dallas win. True, this is why folks like Vernon, Fuhr, Billy Smith, Barrasso etc, all should probably be higher on my list. Vernon only won one cup but has about as many wins as Cujo.
