      • I'm done arguing but I note that Ben completely ignored the fact that Doug Flutie has always, except in San Diego, been on a team with a top defense and a top running game.

I was unaware how blessed by circumstance the guy was throughout his NFL tenure until now. That should be damning, especially since Ben places a lot of emphasis on wins. But Ben's love for Flutie exists purely on faith

            • Anyway...

Terrell Owens has undergone surgery to repair a torn anterior cruciate ligament in one of his knees following a previously undisclosed injury this offseason, according to sources familiar with the injury.

Terrell Owens, who has placed himself among the NFL's all-time leading receivers with plans to play a 16th season, has undergone surgery to repair a torn anterior cruciate ligament in one of his knees following a previously undisclosed injury this offseason, according to sources familiar with the injury.

Owens, 37, was unavailable for comment but sources said the surgery by noted orthopedist Dr. James Andrews occurred within the past month.

One source said Owens was hurt while on site taping a television show for VH1.
ACL surgery at age 37... uh oh...

Sources said while Owens did tear an ACL with the new injury, he suffered no other damage to the knee in question and with intensive rehab he conceivably could return within six months, or around mid-to-late November, in a best-case scenario.
Guess I won't be drafting him on my fantasy football team, after all

The agent for Terrell Owens confirmed Tuesday that the receiver had surgery to repair a torn ACL this offseason but said his client will be ready for the 2011 season and is not considering retirement.

Agent Drew Rosenhaus called in to ESPN's "SportsCenter" on Tuesday to clarify the reports on Owens' injury and said the receiver had the surgery in April and will be ready to hit the football field in August.

                • I don't trust anything Drew Rosenhaus says. So I'm not expecting him to be ready to play until November. ACL repair usually takes 6 months to reach even a serviceable level. TO won't be able to make cuts at the NFL level until late in the season as a best-case scenario.

Do you think historical footnote means something else from what it actually means, Sloww?

2nd all time in receiving yards
2nd all time in receiving touchdowns
                      5th all time in receptions

Yeah. Being the second best WR in NFL history after Jerry Rice makes him a historical footnote

                      • He's adios. Does that clear it up for you? I don't care what records he holds, or where he places on lists. I wouldn't vote him into the HOF.
It's a team sport, and Owens is about Owens. He can take his money and run.

You and Ben are both alike. You just decide to hate on someone and everything they accomplish on the field means nothing because of some character flaw. You act like TO has committed some crime. Just so you know, he's never committed any crime that I know of. He's squeaky clean off the field.

And team? Like any of these owners give a **** about any of these players beyond their earnings potential for the organization. Like any of these players actually are looking out for anyone else but their own financial security. Get a grip. This is a business.

TO has been an other worldly receiver since coming into the NFL as a third round pick from small-time D I-AA University of Tennessee at Chattanooga (guess how many former Chattanooga Mocs play in the NFL besides TO? ZERO). Coming from his humble background, his performance on the field speaks for itself.

Uh, I believe Slowwy considers him to be a selfish diva. Last I checked that wasn't a crime. So where is slowwy saying he committed a crime?

I don't like him either because you know, personality.

Plenty of better recievers out there. TO is done.

Obviously the Hall of Fame should induct the entire 85 bears then, being a team sport and all.

Yeah now when he's 37. How about 'plenty of better receivers' since 1996?
