Kolb is on a shorter leash than before

The franchise traded away McNabb because they were confident in Kolb. I'm sorry Albert, I just don't see it. Vick's been there for some time now and hasn't won the starting job in camp. If Kolb had a series of terrible games, I could see it. He hasn't even started his first full game yet! How can he be on a short leash until he's proven that he cannot start in the NFL.

Finally, an argument. I don't think this is true. He had some really good games as a Falcon. Maybe you've forgotten the hype? He was supposed to be the next best thing. Then his limitations caught up with him.

Umm... Ben... what were his limitations in Atlanta? He couldn't pass effectively or efficiently. He couldn't read defenses or put touch on his passes. Umm yeah... he's fixed all that. That's what sticks out to anyone. Vick has become much better of a passer than he ever was before. But that makes sense. Andy Reid can develop QB's and has a system that allows QB's to succeed.

Holy crap Ben... Vick was barely a 55% passer in Atlanta. His career average in Atlanta was a 53.8% completion % and a QB rating of 76.8, and a 6.7 yards per attempt.

Granted it's only 1.5 games but so far this season, he has a 63.8% completion %, a 105.5 QB rating, and a 7.9 yards per attempt average.

Again, it's only 1.5 games versus 6 years in Atlanta but yeah that's substantial improvement on the stat-line and you can really see it in the game. Vick is VASTLY more accurate and VASTLY better of a passer.

Whatever fine. It is just a game and a half... but can someone who saw that game or the Packers game confirm or disagree with my assessment that Vick looked like a much better passer than he ever was before?

Also, if the first half of the Week 1 game is any indication, Vick is going to be a major part of this offense even with Kolb under center. Granted, it might have just been Reid wanting to ease in the transition to Kolb but Vick did get a lot of snaps under center even before the Kolb injury. It would be interesting to see if there will be a Leinart/Warner sort of situation as a few years ago where they switch off at QB based on situation. I don't know if it'll get that deep but Vick could definitely get ~10 plays under center per game this year.

What's going to be interesting is where Vick ends up next year. Buffalo? Jacksonville? Minnesota? Arizona? All would be intriguing possibilities.

Jacksonville should take him, not necessarily because it would be the best football decision, but because they need to re-invigorate their franchise and grow their fanbase. Bringing in Vick will do that overnight... and Jacksonville being geographically close to Atlanta will make things even more interesting.

The Jaguars shouldn't have passed on Tebow either for the same reason.

Buffalo has been the most talked about destination even last year, though and with them just benching Trent Edwards today and saying that his benching is permanent (plus this was the last year of his contract)... but they may look to the draft.

Nah if they move it will be in at least 2-3 years from now. These things don't happen in a year's time. There's more likely going to be no football in 2011 than the LA Jaguars in 2011.

Kolb will be fine. He did look ugly when he played but the Eagles have the talent (except on offensive line which has been destroyed by injuries already!) to allow him to succeed. I still think Kolb this year will resemble Aaron Rodgers in his first year starting... complete with a ****ty O-Line and a lot of scrambling but overall good passing production and a middling record.
