Splitting up Toews and putting him on the RW?
Putting Heatley on the left with Marleau and Thornton?

Seems to me, he's going for 4 balanced lines against Germany.

Babcock's either a genius, crazy, or he's picking lines at random, because he doesn't really care about Germany.

I'd rank them:

Marleau - Thornton - Heatley
Staal - Crosby - Iginla
Perry - Getzlaf - Nash
Morrow - Richardson - Toews

Whats so crazy? The shark line is unchanged so it seems all they really did was transpose Nash and Staal. The Getzlaf line now has huge size--- interesting. So they shake up the supposed top two lines -- Unsurprising.

I am now unsure what to expect. Part of me fears a fizzle but I mostly think the team will explode against germany. Then against Russia its a battle . . .

Sweden managed to shut the game down with surprising little resistance, although it felt like to me like the Finns were saving their sisu for down the line. Nobody risked being knocked out in this game, and I hope the Swedish players realize that and don't get complacent. They played a disciplined tactical game, determined PK, lots of puck possession - it was the patented boring, beautiful Sweden. My only real negatives were the untimely often silly penalties, like Öhlund's removing that Finnish player's helmet

Sorry for jinxing the Finnish PP. I'd like to say something encouraging now but I better not.

Yeah well, I don't know if they were saving or not. Sweden just shut them down. Maybe it was an easy game for them, who knows. Maybe we just didn't get the game going, many options to choose from, but I don't think they lost on purpose. But it did seem like the game didn't have much at stake, that's for sure.

Öhlund's penalty was stupid but other than that, I can't really tell. Sometimes in these games the referees give you penalty for skating next to a player who happens to fall. I like this new path better, but sometimes it's like come on.... really pathetic. I remember few penalties that were pathetic calls from both sides so... the only one I recall as being stupid was Öhlund at that moment. And also Pitkänen's hit at the end of the 2nd period, totally unnecessary and didn't even give us any momentum, didn't provoke Swedes, so that was just stupid.

No, you use it as an excuse when people point out that you're wrong about something. Instead of admitting you were wrong, you just say you weren't serious. Which is the main reason why everyone complains that you have no intellectual integrity. For good reason of course.

Against Germany, I'd like to see them test some lines.

I'd split Heatley Thornton and Marleau because they're not producing. Move Getzlaf and Bergeron to RW because they shoot right. Move Toews and Heatley together. Moving Thornton to fourth line seems a waste of talent, but that makes that line strong (although maybe switch Toews and Thornton because Toews is better defensively). Give Bergeron a chance to show his stuff.

I am actually starting to wonder about Rick Nash--his NHL numbers this year are comparable to Iggy's but apparently Nash is now scoreless through 10 games in the Olympics

Only germany played their role correctly.

Norway? its 1-0 for the Slovaks and the Slovaks get another 3 minutes of PP time now so perhaps that one will unfold as it "should'
