  • I know it's only projection, but projection must be based on historical fact.

Ricky Williams 18.96 projected this week.

Adrian Peterson 17.04 projected this week.

Would I take Williams over Peterson if the draft was today? Probably not, but I might not take Peterson either.

    • Well, Ronnie Brown wasn't injured at the start of the season

Yes and no. If I truly thought Ray Rice was going to be a monster, I would have taken him in round 3 or 4, instead of c*cking up and taking McFadden and Ward. Hence, Rice was half a flier with upside. He's gone beyond expectations though.

      • What saved me is getting McGahee, and then getting Beanie.

So I basically got 2/3rds of their combined production for the entire year, which isn't too shabby.

        • FYI, the NFL has ruled (correctly) that Kurt Warner's scoring pass to Anquan Boldin last Sunday was a lateral and therefore actually a rushing TD. Yahoo stats have changed.

Fortunately, none of our game outcomes were affected.

But I'm sure there are fantasy leagues all over the place where the ins are now out, and where supposed losers are suddenly in the championship game. Crazy.

          • Can I have Derrick Ward back please?

I made the add/drop before you locked the team. Why are you reversing it?

              In the order you inquired:

              1. No, you may not.

              2. Because your season is over. So why the hell would you care?

Frankly, I was pretty surprised and disappointed to see you making roster moves. The active teams are the only ones with any need for free agents. Letting non-participants have the opportunity to affect playoff games by adding and/or dropping players makes no sense. I mean, if you were playing in the finals and some guy (who doesn't even have a game to play) grabbed a player you wanted, I imagine you'd be pretty upset.

I should not have to do this locking thing at all (and in my other league, I don't). In fact, I wasn't going to bother locking out you and snoopy, because I thought we were all adults here. Avoiding roster changes after your season's over -- really, it's just common courtesy to the other players. It's kind of sad that I have to enforce it.

                Why?

I picked up Derrick Ward to replace an IRed player.

                2. Because your season is over. So why the hell would you care?
Why do I care? Because it's my first season. I want to see how my team would have done over their entire season, regardless of whether I'm eliminated or not. I'm testing to see how viable my strategy is in the long haul of the season, and how I can improve it over time.

You do recall I was in favour of zero roster moves in the playoffs? You were the one who favoured and insisted on roster moves.

I'd consider it part of the game.

Look, you've decided you wanted roster moves in the playoffs, and you decided to lock teams after they've been eliminated.

You did it when the playoffs were set. I really don't see the issue here.

You screwed up here JRabbit. The move was made before you locked the teams down.

I should not have to do this locking thing at all (and in my other league, I don't).
Then why did you lock down everyone else after they missed the playoffs?

In fact, I wasn't going to bother locking out you and snoopy, because I thought we were all adults here.
Then say so. I can't read your mind. If you don't want to lock teams, don't. I never insisted upon it, quite the opposite. I don't think you should be permitted to make roster moves at all once you reach the playoffs. I've said that before and I'll stick to it.

Avoiding roster changes after your season's over -- really, it's just common courtesy to the other players. It's kind of sad that I have to enforce it.
Then make it clear. I can't read your mind JRabbit. As far as I can see 'common courtesy' has nothing to do with it. I've never been in a FF playoff before, I don't know what's permitted and what is not.

All you had to say is that "I don't want to have to lock teams. Once you are eliminated, I don't want to see roster moves".

Why did you assume we were all on the same page, especially folks who haven't been here?

                • You want to know something? Next year will be worse for you, and it will get worse with each year.
Why? This year you could do your thing blindly. You thought that you thought, but you didn't really think.
NOW, you'll think, and think again, and over think. It will get to the point where you either question everything you do, or decide screw it. If you decide to say screw it, there's pretty much no reason to bother with doing it.

It makes the season go by quickly, doesn't it?

                    • It's not about reading my mind. It's about doing what's right and fair -- ensuring a level playing field for the remaining playoff teams.

This should be self-evident. I honestly didn't think I would need to explain something so elementary.

Oh ok. So me dropping an IRed player and picking up Derrick Ward before Christmas is going to screw over one of the four remaining teams?

Ward's been passed over by everyone until now. I honestly didn't think anyone would care about him.

I understand your concern about balance. I just don't see why me replacing a backup QB for a backup RB is going to affect anyone. Frankly, if they are needing Ward, they are probably screwed anyways.

Exactly. It could. What if Cadillac comes down with the flu tonight? You never know.

The point is, the four remaining teams have earned the ability to make that decision. For whatever reason.

The rest of us lost. We have no games and have no possible benefit. Who cares if you have an IR guy on your roster when your season is over? (I mean, obviously, you do care, but to what possible benefit?)

This situation is a pretty standard practice -- though the original reason was to prevent collusion among buddies, where a key player or two would be dropped by one team and picked up by a contender. In our world, it's generally understood. Everyone just knows and behaves accordingly. My guess is that it never even came up in the D/ST League.

To me, it's intuitively obvious, so I didn't feel the need to post an explanation. Guess I was wrong about that. Sorry for the confusion, and thanks for your understanding.

                            • I should pick up Ward just to broaden the scope of my being considered an ass.
