Craig James eyeing politics, not ruling out U.S. Senate run

Former SMU football star and ESPN analyst Craig James has made news recently regarding his role with his son and former Texas Tech Football Coach Mike Leach. But James could be making news this year in politics, too.

Nothing like having your son be a pain in the ass and garnering some attention.

    • Not as different as I thought. San Antonio to Dallas = 274 miles.
San Antonio to Houston = 200 miles.
if you come here, you'll be needing to use GPS.
      GPS 0, map 1

      I have a 'special' map that I made. It's like 5' by 5'.

      • That should be about right for Texas.

        • BTW I was referring to Houston - Dallas, being the same as Houston - SA. They are both about 200 miles.

          • Dallas to San Antonio = 274 miles
Dallas to Houston = 239 miles

That still surprises me. Houston seems like a longer drive.
Here's why, I guess. Dallas to Austin = 195. You hit Austin, to San Antonio goes quickly.

              • Why would the Chargers want to go from the 17th largest metro area in the US to the 28th? Especially when the #2 is open to them (and they are right now basically the home team for the #2 market as San Diego is only 120 or so miles from LA)?

                • And the problem with San Antonio is not Houston, but Dallas. I'd imagine there are a TON of Cowboys fans in that area who wouldn't be all that interested in switching allegiences.

                    Couple reasons.

                    1. The stadium is in Industry, not in LA.
                    2. Even though they ought to be considered the 'home team' the Raiders are still the primary team in LA, and when Raiders get blacked out (which is frequently), the Chargers cannot be shown.
                    3. California politics. They haven't built a new stadium since Candlestick Park back in the 60's.
                    4. San Antonio has proven it can support an NFL market in the Alamodome (see Saints).
                    5. Generally economic differences, TX is one of the few places that is still doing well.
                    6. Hispanic fanbase for the Bolts (something they would keep in San Antonio).
                    7. No need to sell the team.

                    IMO, I'd see the following.

                    1, stay in the Q
2, build a new stadium in Escondido, Es-con-di-do SuperChargers.
3, move to San Antonio and play in the Alamodome
4, move to LA into the City of Industry.

                      • It's reported that Pete Carroll has accepted a five year deal with the Seattle Seahawks to succeed Mora the Younger: http://www.dailynews.com/ci_14151185

Also, he's apparently bringing Jeremy Bates with him, which would mean Bates isn't going to CHI.

                        • Supposedly, Pete Carroll is leaving his cushy USC gig just one step ahead of the NCAA investigators.

I don't know enough about Bates to know if we're missing out on something or not. But given the personnel in Seattle, Carroll will need all the help he can get.

                              • Hmm, I can't say I disagree. I think LT + Rivers is the better offensive combination, and we all saw how well the Bolts did at the beginning of the year without LT.

Can anyone imagine the Colts without Manning?
