That article is quite doubtful Slingbox is illegal.

It looks like the only statement from MLB is they think it is illegal and were going to "look into it" (two years ago). NFL didn't even say that much.

So unless you can produce some court case saying it is illegal, you might want to change your tune.

Ozzy, you're normally saner than this. Setting up a slingbox in someone else's house is absolutely identical to me taking the neighbor's cable wire and splicing it. There's literally no difference except for distance. How could a remotely rational person consider that to be legal??? And that's even beyond the fact that cable companies have all sorts of regional contracts, and the Slingbox TOS...

Is it illegal to go to a friend's house and sit on their couch and watch their TV? No. That is what this is. It is just displaced. If you splice cable then you pay for one TV and you can watch cable on two TVs. This is just one person watching it on one TV, exactly what the agreement is with the cable company.

The only remotest gray area is, as you note, with sports black outs, but I actually cited something showing that whatever concern you or others may have about that it is most likely unfounded. The fact that you think it is illegal to watch *anything* on a Slingbox, whether it is a sports league or not, proves just how clueless you are about this subject.
