VANCOUVER - T.J. Galiardi's Colorado Avalanche are well out of the playoff picture, so the 20-year-old focused on helping his hometown team instead.
Galiardi, a Calgary native, recorded his first career two-goal game as the injury-ravaged Avalanche dealt a blow to Vancouver's hopes for home-ice advantage in the playoffs, beating the Canucks 4-1 Sunday.
"My dad is a big Calgary fan and he was saying, 'Get the win for them,' because obviously Vancouver is on their tail," Galiardi said. "It's kind of funny how it worked out that way".
Galiardi opened scoring for Colorado, then made it 4-0 in the third period as the Avalanche (32-44-2) avoided their first nine-game losing streak in franchise history."The issue is there are still many people out there that use religion as a crutch for bigotry and hate. Like Ben."

I keep saying that you never know what can happen in any given game. I think that recent events have shown the folly of Ben's methods of picking a specific game as one a team "should" or should not win.
I like to take a more "macro" view. No matter who they played I just didn't see the Avs losing all the way to the end-- There would be a game where Budaj played well and the other team was less than great-- I didn't know it would be the Vancouver game but am sure glad it was
So now the Flames have two advantages-- a game in hand and a currently better tiebreak but neither assures anything. Again looking at it from a macro point of view, if the Flames can go .500 with two wins in their final four, Vancouver would need to go 2-0-1 or better. I actually think Vancouver is liekly to rebound in their next few games. The Flames? I would think they are due to rebound a bit as well but with four regular defencemen out, I am not even sure what team will be playing. You don't get to 300 losses without being a pretty exceptional goaltender.-- Ben Kenobi speaking of Roberto Luongo

Flames just schooled LA.
A victory tonight over Vancouver clinches it...
Though Calgary's record in the 2nd game of a back-to-back is awful. And we're still missing 4 d-men and not even skating a full team each night due to cap reasons."The issue is there are still many people out there that use religion as a crutch for bigotry and hate. Like Ben."

YUp-- but it was a somewhat lacklustre effort. The Flames were reasonably tight defensively and Kipper was solid with the few good chances he faced but the Flames PP was AWFUL. They seem afraid to shoot. The Flames top line generally was not that great (I know Iggy scored but that was one play on a shift where the line had looked awful in the preceeding 40 seconds

But the Flames magic number is now two. Any combination of Flames wins or Vancouver regulation losses equalling two, clinches the division

AS for the d? with Aucoin back I feel a little better but I don't think any of the injured d-men are even skating at the moment so folkds like vanderMeer and Pardy may be seeing way more minutes than they are used to. The rookie, Pelech looked fine last night but again this was against an LA team that didn't exactly set the world on fire with their intensityYou don't get to 300 losses without being a pretty exceptional goaltender.-- Ben Kenobi speaking of Roberto Luongo

What's Vancouver's magic number then? 5?
Hope you guys get Aucoin et al back before the playoffs... nothing sucks more than having serious injuries right in time for the playoffs.<Reverend> IRC is just multiplayer notepad.

**** the sad-sack New York Islanders.
**** the lucky-ass Cam Ward.
12-save shutout in an 9-0 demolishing of the ******** Islanders.
And Kontiki has Ward in both leagues. Both of which were very close until he got the shutout."The issue is there are still many people out there that use religion as a crutch for bigotry and hate. Like Ben."

It's been a brutal, brutal hockey night for me.
Luongo is absolutely stealing this game for Vancouver. The Flames have outshot Vancouver by over 2:1, but Luongo is unreal. One man team, so not worthy.
Canucks have given up 42 shots already with 13 mins left to play. But Luongo only let 1 in."The issue is there are still many people out there that use religion as a crutch for bigotry and hate. Like Ben."

Where is Calgary's vaunted offense?
They failed to score on a 5 on 3 2 man advantage.
4-1 Nucks.
Clearly Luongo >>> Kippersoft.Scouse Git (2) La Fayette Adam Smith Solomwi and Loinburger will not be forgotten.

I didn't read Ben's post but I have an idea what he said.
I'd refer him to read -- if he can -- my post from yesterday where I indicated I didn't have high hopes for today.
And the Flames generated tons of shots. The bounces didn't go their way -- lots of posts -- and Luongo was unreal.
One man team. Flames still first in the division. On the plus side, the Flames played very well for a back-to-back road game with shots at least. The powerplay is still brutal and costing us games, though. Needs to be fixed."The issue is there are still many people out there that use religion as a crutch for bigotry and hate. Like Ben."

Canucks are done with their 9 game road trip, 9 games, 9 different cities.
Calgary's best chance now is they have to win both ends of a back to back against edmonton. Now that the Canucks have some rest I don't see them losing to LA or Colorado.
So I'll be cheering for the Oilers to play spoiler yet again.
Canucks now 5 goals behind Calgary for the year. Could be interesting.
Brodeur record now safe. So much for Kippersoft breaking it.Last edited by Ben Kenobi; April 8, 2009, 00:46.Scouse Git (2) La Fayette Adam Smith Solomwi and Loinburger will not be forgotten.
