Means we don't even need to win the last one, which is a relief somehow given the performance yesterday.....

Nope, that was Gijón, the bad twin of Córdoba, Argentina. You know, there are times both don't classify (Córdoba) and other times that both do, and Algeria doesn't (Gijón).

Ah yeah...I had forgotten about the 3-2 game in Argentina. Or rather....I was only 7 years at the time, so whatever knowledge I have of that match, I have learned after the fact

          • Italy escape to live another day.

The simply don't look like world champions atm.

But they have done this poor performance in the early rounds before, and then get lucky and go on to win the tournament.

            • The Italian defense (other than Buffon) looked really weak. It's a shame our attack wasn't that strong either.

              • Yeah...I'm not going to write off Italy just yet.

But there is certainly room for improvement

                • I was expecting Italy to grind out a result but that was a decent game.

Hopefully Holland v France won't ruin teh day.

                        • A great game. Lots of skill.

And played without many serious fouls. Congrats to both teams.

                          • Wow what a game! 7 goals in two matches against the world cup finalists. My god, I love it.

And beautiful goals they were, too.

To be fair, the French had some good chances as well, and 4-1 seems a bit inflated. Still it's the result that counts. And we had some close misses as well, after all.

French might have gotten a penalty, I'm not sure. It was clearly accidental hands, but it did save the goal. On the other hand Makelele deserved at least two red cards this game. He punched someone in the face, and only got yellow. I hope FIFA bans him for several matches. Damn.

                              • Netherlands, Portugal and Croatia (of a sort) are emerging as favourites. Spain too, if they can continue their good form against Sweden tonight.

Some spaniards have doubts about that, but that is only nervousness. I, myself, think that Sweden are in for a beating tonight....Zlatan or no Zlatan
