Funny, I feel kinda the same way about the sluts that jump on the 'anybody but the Pats' bandwagon.

Funny, I've hated them since that BS "tuck rule" play.

Does that make me a 'bandwagoner'? Good to see Brady lose in the SB, so he can't pretend to be as good as Montana anymore.

As hard as it was to cheer for Eli, it was great to see the classy Patriots stick around for the loss.



Belichick should be fined for leaving the field early. It's one thing when a player does it but a coach? That's something else. How hard is it to take your lumps and the loss rather then slinking off to the locker room?

I don't know, to be honest. I think taking away the Superbowl would be over the top...the bigger problem would be lying, not the rest. But the point is, when the aftermath of a hypothetical is discussed ad nauseum it becomes reality before any facts are available. And then that 'reality' is used to justify pre-determined attitudes.

So you're saying that an investigation that is truly being run with the idea of 'restoring integrity to the game' would ignore available evidence of a much more widespread problem and just focus on the Pats and Goodell? Come on.

Because when the NFL said the Colts thing didn't happen, it ended. When the NFL said the Pats thing didn't happen, it was a footnote and the stories kept going.

ESPN's crawler ran it all day yesterday after Specter made his rounds Sunday morning.

According to Palontonio he is calling for Goodell in his office Tuesday morning because the reasons Goodell gave for destroying the tapes do not ring true. He also wants to find out specifically what was on the tapes and notes and if Tom Brady has spoken with Goodell on if he knew what was on the tapes. If not he wants Brady in Washington too. He also wants to speak to Matt Walsh.

Well, you can't erase the past, but you can hammer the people involved that are still in the league, coaches, owners etc. Maybe an asterix, maybe a footnote in the history books.

The bigger problem is the lying?

spying as alleged before the championship is perhaps the most egregious thing that you can do that doesn't involve throwing the game. I consider it below the black sox and sweep the leg, but above rose (assuming he did just bet on his team to win). way way above hgh and steroid issues (in team sports, track and such are different) on my continuum of wrong doing in sports.

Honestly I think you are right. You diehards should make sure you ditch all the bandwagoners off the patsies, all the folks who were there for the glory but are bailing because they see which way the train is headed now.

Truth, most of the folks who don't like the Pats have felt that way longer then their fans have liked them.

Of course. After all, when the Black Sox were betting on games, it isn't like they went back and asked Ty Cobb and Cap Anson about betting on baseball. They dealt with the one team in front of them.

If it were an isolated case, maybe. But the mass of evidence points to that not being the case. Hell, a couple days before the alleged Rams taping Pats coaches and league officials saw a guy watching the Pats practice through a telescope! And it's not like it's a new thing either...you can go back to Halas playing games with film and college players if you want, or George Allen's spies, or Jimmy Johnson's admitted experiments in videotaping.

That is the problem here: lack of context. If you want to go back through history and apply a hard-line interpretation of the rules, fine...but do it to every team for the last century. If you think this is all part of the game and no big deal, fine. But don't just single out one franchise and one coach because they're the hot team or his public image isn't personally likable. If you want to hand out asterisks you're going to need to label most of the league with them...it'd be like what baseball is dealing with for the 'steroids era'.
