Harding catches with his right hand, and as Asher says, that gives Harding the edge cause it throws off the shooters. Harding certainly had the Canucks perplexed. They only scored three goals on 11 shots and chased Harding after 12 minutes. Second game in a row that he's been chased.
Harding had a rough game, but do you know why he was playing? Backstrom's had some rough games lately. Including last night again.

Including a .79 sv% performance vs Calgary. A team you think needs offense.

I don't know if you noticed, but right now Harding and Backstrom have identical sv%. The difference between the two is Backstrom has nowhere to go but down, Harding will probably improve since he's so young still.

Because Backstrom is recovering from a groin injury and they're trying to rest him. Unfortunately for the Wild, Harding is proving less than capable as a back up goalie so the Wild are being forced to use Backstrom despite his injury.

You gotta be kidding me. 91.5 sv% and a shutout, and he's not a capable backup?

Backstrom got pulled the last game he started too (again EDMONTON...which Harding went on to win). Did you even know that? Apparently you don't... Neither Backstrom nor Harding are proving to be capable backup goalies if you look only at Minnie's last 2 games and use your retarded criteria.

If Backstrom was genuinely still recovering from a groin injury, he should not be playing. It's way too easy to strain sore groins, as I'm sure you know being a big-bad hockey player and all that, right? You must think Lemaire is just stupid, dressing an injured goalie...

            • Just went and saw a game at the home of the best team in hockey, the 13-0-1 Chicago Wolves (AHL) Was a fun game, they scored twice in P1 and P3 including a couple of nice goals on sweet slapshots and one on a 1-on-1 breakaway where the defender basically forgot to try to block the puck, and it sailed on past the goalie... oh, and in between were some U6 and U12 teams (U6 between p1-p2 and U12 between p2 and p3) playing little minigames. The U6 kids were very cute... no way I'd have been able to do that at 5.

And, the Wolves managed not to have too many men on the ice during any penalties No fights, though the other team (Houston) had a guy who was about a foot taller than everyone else that the Wolves kept trying to get to fight them, but he wimped out every time. BOO!

              • Another dirty Vancouver player. I'm shocked.

                Bertuzzi, Cooke, and Ohlund. ...

                  • Yeah, ridiculous. At least he was suspended in time for tonight's game vs Calgary.

I was thinking Campbell wouldn't want to work on the weekends.

What's funny is the TSN comments:
I don't think the NHL should've suspended Mattias. In my mind, he had the right to slash Koivu because Koivu went after him with an elbow, and we know that he was going for him, for his head.

                    Yeah, a 100% sure-fire 2-handed stick swing, Lumberjack-style, isn't worthy of a suspension? Wow.

If you watched him play, you would know he's struggling. look at his last six games. No wins. Sv % in the 800s. GAA above 3.00.

Fact is, that goalie you raved about is looking mighty average.

And catching right hand has sure fool the opposing players, eh.

What universe are you living in.

Minn was up 3-2 when Backstrom was rested. Backstrom got the win, and finished with 923 Sv %.

Yeah, he shouldn't, but Minn doesn't have a lot of options. Either they play Backstrom or they play Harding and lose.

                      • Hey Tingkai.

Look who's starting again for Minnie tonight.

Backstrom is still dressed, indicating he's not injured.

Harding is still young but has the potential to displace Backstrom as the starter. If not this season, then next. But the # of starts Harding is getting is even more than I anticipated.

If you have the capability to recall, my entire point was Backstrom is going back to be a rotational goaltender this season. That's exactly what's happening.

Ignore that at your own peril.

(though I need Huselius to have a good game to have any chance of a better week).

Harding has another stellar game vs a high-scoring Colorado team.

                            27 saves, 1 GA.

                            • Final game of the trip, eight rows back from the blue line.

I thought the Flames would put up a fight, but they were completely disorganized and let the Canucks walk all over them. Calgary was awful, but no surprise.

The Flames d-men failed to cover their men, and failed to stop the passes leaving the Canucks wide open to score goals.

Kippersoft was awful, particularly on the last goal when he was caught napping.

As for the offence, well the Flames had a two-man advantage twice and couldn't score.

Meanwhile, the Canucks played like well-oiled machine. Great passes, lots of hits, superb penalty killing and Luongo demonstrated what great goaltending is all about.

                              4-1 score says it all.

                              • Yep, terrible game by the Flames. Flames (and Kipper) played their 2nd game in as many nights, flying in very late last night, and it showed.

Haven't been impressed with them all season, but at least they're no Leafs or Oilers. The special teams are atrocious. Does anyone know who the special teams coach is? I seem to think it's Playfair.

And no comment on Harding? For shame. I take it as an admission of defeat, which is what it is.

                                Also, I can't resist.

                                ...

Calgary was awful, but no surprise.

That takes talent, contradicting yourself so readily.

If you landed late at night to play the Canucks after playing the Oilers, you'd be napping too.

And that nickname. Oh, to be juvenile again...alas, some of us have had to grow up. (Does he have cooties?)
