That's certainly got to be a major reason. Kipper has Raycroft-esque numbers so far this year: 32nd out 40 in the league in GAA, 37th in save percentage and no shutouts.

And Flames fans have become accustomed to the fact that Kipper will suck for the first 8-10 games but THEN, in other years he turned it around and stole some games and otherwise generally gave them some real quality goaltending-- Last year he was amazing a lot of nights.

But this time we are almost 1/3 of the way through the season and the suckage continues.

What?? Muscle through d-men? NO not really-- not with much regularity these days. This is where centre ice package fails you in comparison to being at the game as you don't see much of the play away from the puck.

Iggy generally gets bounced when he tries to muscle through. He is reasonably strong on his skates but his goals typically come from a burst of speed into open ice when he can score. Very few of his chances come from when he is engaging in battles in front .

Don't get me wrong - Iggy is reasonably strong and hits ok but I wouldn't go any further than that. His strengths right now seem to be bursts of speed that allow him to score with his good shot

That actually led to some pretty good debate on Calgary radio as to whether Phaneuf should be accepting those fight challenges since he is typically more valuable to the Flames than his opponent is to their team

What??? The problem isn't the "losers" getting points in the shootout, it's that the shootout itself is retarded and shouldn't be giving out ANY points at all, let alone ALL of the points.

Shootouts are an abomination. Keep them for the fans, but don't make them worth any points...or get rid of them.

Shootouts is what keeps pathetic teams like the Oilers afloat, which is insulting to the rest of the teams out there.

I "goofed" in not playing Emery but since he lost ( a shootout) and his save % was worse than Nabokovs (who also lost a shootout) it kind of worked out ok.

Although there is a part of me that thinks having two games in the books at a .915-.920 sv % would have been better than having only one game in with a .935

But we may have a goalie head-to-head tomorrow-- I picked up MIke Smith-- since Dallas has back to back road games he is pretty certain to get a start on the weekend

I believe I am also in the weird position of leading in goals and trailing in assists this week. With my team it was usually the opposite

Well I don't see why you are complaining so much. Calgary has earned 12 losses, without even making it to the shootout or OT. Eliminating the loser points will help not hurt you guys.

Only Washington, LA and Edmonton have more losses then you guys and that's saying something.
