In a nutshell, anti-Assad forces have captured Aleppo and its surrounding airport. There may be three reasons why this happened:1. Russia simply can’t spend ...

Islamists are also kidnapping Kurdish and Christian girls to make them sex slaves. Much like ISIS did with religious minorities in Iraq a few years back

Well, Assad's personal palace has been captured by the Syrian rebels (mostly Islamists). Kudrs are fighting both the Assad forces and the Islamist forces. Assad's family seems to have also fled to Russia though Syria. State membia claims he is now on Syria. Russia has abandoned Syria as it's forces have been stripped to the bone to reinforce Russian forces in Ukraine; they have mostly retreated to Russia's main base in Latokia. It remains unclear if rebel forces will storm the Russian naval base but they clearly do not like Russia as Russians have air forces for years.

The Islamists also seem to be massacring Christians in Syria. The whole thing is a damn mess. No word about how Assad's brother's coup is going but it doesn't seem to be very successful. Russia has tried weak attacks against the Islamists but several have been captured by the Turkish backed rebels. It is extreme chaos in Syria and it seems likely the dictator will be overthrown.

In related news Syrian rebel forces seem to be showing Putin & Assad how to conduct a real three day special military operation. Russian forces are in full retreat fleeing back to the Latokia Naval base while Assad's forces are simply running away from every where. Worse, Assad's brother seems to be leading a coup in Damascus. Assad himself hasn't been seen for half a week and is believed to be hiding in Moscow.

A Russian general has been fired for making false combat reports.

I don't know why they fired him, he was just following Russian tradition, after all.

    They're clowns.
Also notice how they didn't target Kiev where Patriots would have shot it down? The whole stunt reeks of desperation.

It's apparently a slightly new version of an 'ICBM' they had from back when IRBMs were banned, and only had barely enough range to qualify as an ICBM with the lightest of payloads to skirt around the ban.

And hey, Russia now has the honor to have been the first to use a MIRV warhead in anger.

The big rocket attack last Sunday (which cost them ~1 billion dollars in rockets) represented about three months of stockpiled production. It does seem they've run most of their stockpikes dry (and also on tanks and artillery, given the increasing proportions of kills of older tank chassis and lower-caliber artillery).
