It starts with "I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic;" A joint session of Congress was meeting for the constitutionally mandated purpose of formally reporting and counting electoral votes for President and Vice President of the United States. A mob forcibly breached multiple police lines and the Capitol building, to interfere with that constitutionally mandated duty. I wouldn't have hesitated a millisecond to act as a spiritual counselor to those misguided souls.

If they attempt to prevent or hinder duly elected representatives from carrying out their constitutional duties, they aren't political opponents, they are insurrectionists, seditionists, etc. Their ideology or alleged cause is irrelevant. Once they choose to try to forcibly disrupt the government, they have two choices. They can surrender and be dealt with via the justice system, or they can fight and die.
