Last year, the flu rate was way down in Canada, mostly due to masking, distancing, and other COVID rules. I am not a scientist, but there are different types of nasty microscopic stuff, and not all vaccines protect you from all of them. I still get tetanus shots every few years.

I must test the theory that a tequila shot does not stop covid. I think I should also test the effectiveness of whisky Baileys Irish Cream, and a few other spirits! Purely in the interests of scientific research of course.

Well, in the sense that they are both caused by viruses, yes.
Note: The annual flu vaccine is famously ineffective against a significant number of that year's flu strains. And no existing flu vaccine (that I'm aware of) has been touted as effective against Covid-19.

        • Things (not) to do in a pandemic:

Two alleged gang associates found with a car trunk "full of KFC" takeout were arrested as they tried to enter New Zealand's largest city on Sunday in breach of strict coronavirus lockdown rules, according to police.

          (...)

Police were patrolling back roads near the outskirts of Auckland when they noticed a suspicious looking vehicle, a New Zealand Police spokesperson said in a statement Monday.

Upon seeing the officers, the vehicle did a U-turn and sped off before eventually pulling over, the statement said. When the car was searched, police found a large quantity of KFC, more than NZ$100,000 ($70,000) in cash, and "empty ounce bags."

Police photos show at least three buckets of chicken, about 10 cups of coleslaw, a large package of fries, and four large bags containing other KFC items.
Who knew KFC would have his dedicated own brand of org crime gangs? Gotta wonder how they deal with their stuff on the streets. Let's hope they don't harm anyone for chicken wings/fries

A few months ago, a KFC franchise reopened in Yellowknife in the Northwest Territory in Canada after about a 10 years absence. The first weekend, they completely ran out of food, twice. More than one town chartered planes and bought mass amounts of product to ship home. You must remember, a Kentucky Colonel runs the company... !!

A Covid therapy derived from a llama named Fifi has shown "significant potential" in early trials.

It is a treatment made of "nanobodies", small, simpler versions of antibodies, which llamas and camels produce naturally in response to infection.

Once the therapy has been tested in humans, scientists say, it could be given as a simple nasal spray - to treat and even prevent early infection.

Nanobodies sounds suspiciously like nanobots though. Those Llamas are probably more like Trojan Horses for the Borg invasion

            • Unfortunately there's no shortage of idiots anywhere:

German politicians expressed shock on Tuesday over the killing of a 20-year old gas station worker after an argument about a face mask and said that coronavirus deniers who are willing to use violence will not be tolerated.

The killing on Saturday evening in the western town of Idar-Oberstein has hit the national headlines as it is one of the only such cases linked to Covid-19 restrictions.

Prosecutors have said that the petrol station cashier had asked a 49-year-old man who wanted to buy beer to comply with the rules and put on a mask.
The customer refused and left but returned later wearing a mask, which he pulled down when he approached the cashier, who again referred to the rules.

"Then the perpetrator pulled a revolver and shot the cashier in the head from the front. The victim fell to the floor and was immediately dead," prosecutor Kai Fuhrmann told reporters.

              • The US has surpassed the deaths of the Spanish flu, all that technology and a vaccine has not worked for the US.

The US population is over 3x what it was in 1918. The population actually decreased in 1918. Where did you get this crap?

                  • Uncle Sparky is correct to say that Covid deaths exceed Spanish Flu deaths for the United States.
Kidicious is also correct to point out that the American population has tripled so on a per capita basis the Spanish Flu has killed less per capita so far.
The Spanish Flu finished long ago however Covid continues to claim lives so it remains to be seen which will claim more lives on a per capita basis.

cause of death isn't standard, past tech may lead to under reporting while ours might over report

like how reports of covid infected kids has risen because kids going to the hospital for non-covid reasons will test positive and be counted as a kid in the hospital for covid

                  • Now let's compare how medical research and the resulting ability to combat health stuff is/was today vs. 1918.

In 1918 doctors were still prescribing smoking as good for the chest.
We seem to have progressed on the medical front.

Flynn was speaking to Clay Clark, conservative radio host of “The Thrivetime Show”, and Andrew Sorchini, a precious metals dealer in Beverly Hills. “Somebody sent me a thing this morning where they’re talking about putting the vaccine in salad dressing.
