    • I'd have said trump would win for reasons my left wing friends here seem incapable of grasping. I don't know why, it's easy.

however, the virus is coming back with a vengeance, oblitarating the summer-buffer as we call it.

If it has started wreaking havoc here, it will incinerate you there.

including and I'm very sorry to say texas and florida.

So Trump, whereas he was 100% sure to win, will be less sure

LOL doing nothing is not a strategy.

BTW, Georgia (#8 in population) climbed past Illinois (#5 in pop.) in Covid cases yesterday. Arizona (#14, with about half our pop.) will do the same in the next couple weeks. This no-mask, open-the-economy strategy is working out great for them!

The no mask strategy ended when the CDC ended it. You know that.

A state strategy allows individual states to use their own strategy. That is a better strategy. People don't need to wear masks all over the country where there is a low infection rate. That's mindlessness.

Texas is actually a swing state and Biden is up by 2%, and former Republican groups who have turned on Trump are pouncing on it

If Trump loses Texas, it's impossible for him to win the election. You can't lose New York, Texas, and California and have any hope to win. Florida is also in play as you have noted.

            • Hopefully Trump will do so bad that it costs Repugs some senate seats.
That ass licking group needs to go. They have ignored Trumps actions and let him get away with murder.

              • Yes, they will most likely lose the Senate also. Being complicit, they need to be swept out of office. I applaud those like Mitt Romney who stood on the side of justice and the Constitution when it mattered.

Where are the Bob Doles and John McCains of today?

And Trump’s own polls have him far ahead.

                • It also says that...
The latest figures include 39% who Strongly Approve of the job Trump is doing and 43% who Strongly Disapprove

                  • I think all the crap that Trump is trying is more indicative that even he knows his numbers are floundering and going in the wrong direction.
                    His desperation is showing.
It's almost as if all his overconfident, absolutist assertions were spoonfed to him by a trusted website or subreddit. Sheeple

                    • What's interesting is that he's spending so much time trying to placate his base... I guess he's figured out that they are even starting to get annoyed with him.
But even if he shores up his base, he needs to make some progress with those undecided in the middle. And he is just paying that lip service now.
My god... you know he's desperate if he's even running adds/spending money in Texas.

He's getting rekt by all the Republicans turning on him. Republican Voters Against Trump has several hundred testimonials against him, including many from Texas. What's striking is so many these people actually spent their entire lives working for the party.

This seems like a really good guy that works his butt off for a living to take care of his family:

They're not only peeling away voters, they're peeling away Trump's attention and his money.

This is no big deal. Quoting Rasmussen, which Kid is too damned lazy to do:

                          Friday, July 31, 2020

The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Friday shows that 50% of Likely U.S. Voters approve of President Trump’s job performance. Forty-eight percent (48%) disapprove.

The latest figures include 39% who Strongly Approve of the job Trump is doing and 43% who Strongly Disapprove.

This gives him a Presidential Approval Index rating of -4.
With Rasmussen, "Approval" is basically "strongly approve + somewhat approve" among self-declared likely voters. Rasmussen's tracking poll has shown Trump in the upper 40s every day, basically forever. This is the first time he's hit 50% since 2/26. Not counting his first 100 days, Trump has never scored above 53% Rasmussen in his entire presidency. Rasmussen is a 3-day rolling average, which is a "flatten the curve" polling technique.

                          • Strongly disapprove numbers don't mean much to me. I don't think they vote as much as people think, especially for someone like Biden. We saw that in 2016.

Literally everyone surveyed by Rasmussen is a likely voter. Rasmussen is, in fact, a "daily tracking poll of Likely U.S. Voters."

I understand that but Rasmussen also counted many who were strongly opposed to Trump in 2016.
