Watched the 1st two episodes of Star Tek Picard (2nd season). But they only drip in the rest at one ep/week, so I'll wait until the season is full.

Jack Reacher, Amazon version. Much more satisfying to have a physically large Jack Reacher.“It is no use trying to 'see through' first principles. If you see through everything, then everything is transparent. But a wholly transparent world is an invisible world. To 'see through' all things is the same as not to see.”
― C.S. Lewis, The Abolition of Man

Watched a bit of the LOTR thing, season 2. Feels a bit more "big" and tense and epic than S1, but still some stuff seems silly. The Númenor/intrigue stuff is still rather weak IMO. And why do some elves not realize who Sauron is??? Should have read LOTR, hehe.
Otoh it sure looks beautiful.Blah

The ChosenLife is not measured by the number of breaths you take, but by the moments that take your breath away.

I need to get back into that. I and my wife watched the first couple, then I went to do other things and she watched way more (the usual). I rarely watch by myself, but I think it would be worth doing.

I watched the 2023 scifi movie The Creator, and didn't like it.
Visually great, but otherwise weak IMO.
It may not be per se a bad idea to do scifi stuff as Apocalypse Now thing.
But the whole "AI are the poor opressed guys, let's be nice to them" line felt weak and illogical.
The bad guys had super advanced hitech weaponry but were totally anti-AI, while those utilizing AI&robotics were some sort of under-equipped guerilla constantly under attack by the no-AI-please bad guys with them super weapons. I mean really???
There is a huge list of real issues with AI use we actually have to sort out. The movie didn't even touch them, except that it started with a AI controlled nuke strike which in the end was just caused by human error.
However, even when we ignore this, and see the whole thing as a chiffre for opressed people/minorities/whatever etc. the movie was weak, with bad dialogues and one-dimensional characters. Similar-themed District 9 did a much better job.
