Started to watch Andor, Season2. Highly recommended, totally not-for-kids, serious SW.

Only downside I see is that there are probably no more seasons, as they'll move towards the events of Rogue One now already, from what I've read.

Got myself Netflix. Never had it before. Will probably limit it to one month since I hope my foot is fully functional again in 2-3 weeks.

However, watched a few 1st episodes to see what is good.


Good so far:

Queen's Gambit

Mindhunters

Find both excellent so far, will continue.


Mixed:

Witcher (I read it gets better, but so far it still has room for improvement. Superman Cavill does a good job as the title guy though).

Weak:

Another Life (scifi with Katee Sackhoff, who seems wasted in this rather bad show).

Seems it's not on Netflix anymore.

Another thing I tried is "3 body problem", which has received much fanfare in the media, in part cuz it's from the GoT makers.

However, it started out very strong (during the Chinese Cultural Revolution), but I found the next bits when they fast forwarded to now-time terribly boring. Admittedly I only watched some 20 mins, so maybe it gets better still. But I find myself running out of patience quickly these days with TV.

OTOH the chess thing was IMO fantastic, completed it meanwhile.

I just finished the second book of the three body problem trilogy. It's interesting, I'll hold on the show until I read the last one.

If anyone wants some recommendations, The Eternaut is an Argentine sci-fi series with quite decent production that's available on Netflix. Adapted from what was perhaps the most famous local comic strip from the 70s.

A lot of what makes it particularly good for me is seeing all the familiar places throughout the series, so ymmv.

Watched a couple eps of "Designated Survivor". IMO not top-class, but routined drama/thriller stuff starring Kiefer Sutherland, made pre 2020.

Kinda like a softer, more family-friendly 24, just that Jack Bauer is the pres now, and he's totally the pres everbody wants. Y'know great power/great responsibilty, doing the right thing, working for da people instead of his own selfish goals etc etc.

If you watch this idealized depiction of the presidency/WH/Washington these days, with lotsa dignity, service, and many noble folks from both sides of the isle it seems like it's from another planet.

My wife and I are about halfway through watching the first season of High Potential.
It's an actual scripted network (ABC) show, apparently based on a French/Belgian series called HPI. Season 2 is scheduled soon, and we're considering watching it in real time.
