Bump for Musk apparently losing his damn mind:

(SUMMARY: Musk offered to send a minisub into the cave in Thailand. They said it wouldn't work. He replied by calling one of the divers a pedo and the rest of them dumb. WTF?)

    https://www.reuters.com/article/us-t...-idUSKBN1K62H7

EDIT: Actually ... he proposes a wild idea, someone says it won't work, and he immediately calls them a pedo? Why is this sounding familiar? Has Musk ever made any claims about farming?

A complete moron who lost all the respect I once had for him and I would never even consider buying a Tesla at this point. With my increasing salary, I have considered it but forget it!

The idiotic comments about the rescue diver and him donating to the GOP compounds the fact that he's an idiot.

            He probably will.
The entrepreneur called the diver a "pedo" after he ridiculed his effort to help missing Thai boys.

That estimate was amazing. Before cost reductions a 30% profitability and before the high option models are considered.

After an email campaign to get people to configure the Model 3, Tesla is now pushing back delivery windows on...

With production now between 5000-6000 a week for the Model 3 (and only the most profitable high end fully loaded models are being built because they can get away with it) Tesla, which already has a 300,000 to 400,000 backlog of presold cars... They have an additional problem any automaker would kill to have... New orders for the Model 3 are running 7000 a week. That means the backlog is growing not shrinking.

In the medium term Tesla really needs to get the construction time down as Toyota averages about 30 man hours per car built but Tesla is doing a terrible 90 man hours per car built. Part of that is the original production difficulties with over automation which simply did not work but another part is they engineered the car to be the best without really considering how long it would take to build them. Experienced automakers make sure designs are as easy to assemble as possible because that is a key concern to surviving in the mass market. Tesla is not there yet and won't be until the next redesign but lessons are being learned and right now demand is so out running supply they can get away with it. They also sell all cars direct at one price so some of it can be made up as the dealer's cut has been eliminated.

I wonder if they have improved the crappy conditions for workers. Many of whom don't even receive any sort of benefit. Elon is a typical republican.

Tesla workers at the company's Fremont factory have detailed difficult work conditions where people pass out and face stress-induced injuries.

                        I've heard stories myself.

Most of that was a slander campaign run by the UAW. The UAW wanted to unionize the place but it is telling that the workers did not support it and voted it down just like they do in all the German, Japanese, and Korean owned car factories in the US. To try to gin up support the UAW paid for those slanderous hit pieces but only low information people fell for it.

                          https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.tes...-campaign/amp/

The UAW is basically a mafia like union and most workers don't want them as they take big fees from workers but deliver very little in return. There are good unions out there but the UAW is not one of them.

That was in 2017 while in 2018 the UAW really ramped up their false attacks and smear campaign as they tried to get workers to vote to unionize and select the UAW. Saadly the UAW is one of the most corrupt u ions out there as well as one of the ones charging the highest fees while delivering the worst results to workers. Not only has the UAW been voted down by u ions at every new factory they tried to unionize in the last five years but several decided the UAW was too corrupt, cost too much, and delivered too little so they voted to deunionize.

Thry are pretty much corrupt pieces of garbage who steal from their members.

Employers rarely realize how devastatingly Unions and other third parties can use Safety to attack a Company’s reputation - and by Unions failure to…

At rhat link UAW stooges explain, in their own words, their attack strategy and how it is designed to try to convince workers to vote in the UAW. The problem is most of it was just lies and innuendo made up whole cloth.
