Harding? Really? I guess the democrat plan is to assassinate the leader nobody likes to bring about the 8 years of prosperity by elevating one of the most popular conservatives in the history of America to the presidency.

Let me know how that works out for you.

      By the world, at large.

If he breaks the statues quo, there will be backlash.

I have no idea about american internal struggles, which I think he will find no real interest from abroad.

A rather welcomed aspect would be that he will show how protectionism can be succesful. To a degree

Democrats could "convince" the world. Or rather the world's elites.

Putin invaded the Ukraine. What did the world do to 'constrain him'? Pretty much nothing. If you're counting on Europe to do something, Europe is more likely to make things worse,.

          Ukraine is gone...
Its gas routes are changing, russians hack their power grid to extinction.
Ukraine is lower than african states of the sub-sahharan.

Yeah the US just encouraged a revolution but couldn't really do anything more because it's in Russia's backward.

But, what Ukraine has to do with anything?

Well, I guess the most obvious is, that he will do anything in his power as POTUS, to benefit his own companies and those of his friends and relatives.
For example with regards to environmental restrictions on oil drilling or construction works, or with giving contracts to friends/families companies
(I have no doubt that Trump companies will be einvolved in building the great wall/fence of USA/Mexico)

For the same reason I don't think that Trump will start a nuclear war ... the impact on his companies may be more negative than positive.
A nuclear war may start nevertheless by accident .... for example if his granddaughter, while playing with the nuclear suitcase, unwittingly enters the correct nuclear codes and afterwards also presses the right buttons to release a nuclear strike. (or maybe because Trump had noticed the nuclear codes on a slip of paper and had it in reach of his granddaughter when or before he gave her the nuclear suitcase to play)

Interesting restrictions that Trump has installed on his companies that he has now isolated himself from. Ethics Officer and Compliance officer must sign off on any deal. Only domestic deals can be made. Profits from foriegn activities to go to U.S. Treasury. Seems like people may have underestimated his resolve in seperating his business from himself.

I dont' doubt that he might be honest.
His whole style, his wife (lol) and kids seem to come out straight from a corporate nightmare.

I don't think he said something explicitly racist but he did show the world that there are lots of americans who don't like jews, think that blacks have too much, leftists are lazy bums etc

Maybe he does want what is best for his country.

                As he sees it.

Ambition is running through the roof with anyone who chooses to claim the leadership of his country.
Most dress it under higher ideals but trump has the same ambition as obama.
Or anyone other worldwide who did the same thing.

Reality will ground him somewhat but it's basically just an intrument of the shortcomings of global economics.

He rode on a climate of miscontent, the same as many leaders before him. he used it.
But he is also "detached" from the established status quo, that it seems has let some americans down.

He will get attached, because there's no way to survive otherwise, but the way he will do it will be novel and that leaves some space for change.

He is, like many before him, just a product of the malcontent globalization brought to the western world

I think he is a benefactor of globalization. His election is a product of the malcontent. A good example of the disconect from what he has portrayed himself to be versus what he has shown himself to be.

That's what I meant too. Him becoming the president is a product of the peoples' malcontent from globilization.

If I'm not mistaken he, himself, has benefited even from getting state grants to build projects in degraded neighborhoods

I see talk in the newspapers that Michelle might run for POTUS in 2020.

                        Is that viable?

Is she even thinking off standing or are people simply suggesting she might?

President Trump will make sure those nasty Muslims like the Obamas will be kicked out of the country, and the lying media will be jailed.
You've even got the lying media saying Russia is trying to blackmail Trump. For blackmail to work, Trump would need to have some sort of morality or humility - all he has is infamy, so how could any new revelations hurt him?
There's nothing wrong with the dream, my friend, the problem lies with the dreamer.

I'm grateful that ISIS (as a state) is no more, and thus Trump's campaign promises of basically invading Syria and Iraq again is probably off the table.

We could have better relations with Russia, which could be good. Or horrible.

The maternity leave plan sounds good. I have no doubt it will be completely and utterly devoid of any redeeming value by the time it gets through Congress.

Protectionism is stupid. Especially when we as a nation have far and away benefited the most from free trade. Protectionism will just reduce the size of the pie. It does nothing to change redistribution of the pie. Trump will claim victories of 10k jobs here or there "saved" ... while hundreds of millions lose out.

Women's reproductive rights will be squashed if any of the liberal justices can't make it at least 4 more years. No way Trump can get re-elected if he doesn't at least try to neuter Roe v Wade. He might not even be able to get his own party's nomination if he doesn't.

Gay rights are probably safe. He seems more progressive in that regard than much of the Republican party, and actually was something of a voice of reason on the topic at the convention. Most of America has pretty much gotten on-board with allowing gay marriage. But if Pence finds himself at the top I would worry about this too.

The environment is not a concern. In that, all decisions will be made with no concern for the environment. Do your grandchildren a favor and don't buy property right on the beach.

Trump could possibly end up progressive on immigration. He softened a lot in the campaign, said some promising things about allowing more legal immigration, and I don't think he really has any ideological qualms with immigration. The wall doesn't really do anything about immigration (legal), and barely anything about illegal immigration either. If the economy goes south though, rounding up immigrants to deport might be something his base demands.
