Okay, what can we realistically expect from a Trump presidency?

  • The throw hillary in jail mantra was used frequently to great success stroking his base during his campaign.
How that was going to happen was always kind of vague
but that never seemed to matter to his base.
It's almost as if all his overconfident, absolutist assertions were spoonfed to him by a trusted website or subreddit. Sheeple

    • I'm delighted to find out that Trump is going after lobbyism and also reassured everyone that there's no conflict of interest due to him being pres and running fancy businesses at the same time

              • I like how Ben downright dismisses electric cars because of crappy batteries, but then goes on to offer fusion-powered cars as an alternative.
Fusing one atom of Helium nets you 14.1 MeV, = 1.602x10^-13 Joules. Given that there are 6.022x10^23 atoms in a gram of Helium, that would net 9.64x10^10 Joules from one gram of Hydrogen, which is 26.77 Megawatt/hours. This is the equivalent of 800 tanks of gas.

Umm, you could run what we do now on a tank of gas with about 2 milligrams of helium fusion. You're looking at a pellet that would be smaller than a bb gun pellet.

                • How about the size of the fusion plant that turns that bb into power?

                  • Hell, 2 grams would be enough to supply a car with all the energy it would need to drive anywhere for the life of the car. No fill ups, no recharges. That would be how they would sell them.

Well, there's the rub. We don't know how to do it yet, but there's nothing stopping it from being done theoretically. Fusion plants will be done first though, and we're probably not that far away from power generation from fusion.

From what I can see, they've already got reactors that produce more than they consume, but not enough to make them commercially viable. Yet.

You laugh, but yeah, a tiny reactor would replace every battery ever. Batteries now are about 137 grams. What if you could reduce that to 1 and never need a charge again? That gives you another 136 grams to figure out how to do that. Same with computers. With sufficient shielding you could make a battery that works that would power your computer forever.

Is there anything to stop The Wall contracts being given to Trump owned companies? And if not, what would/will be the popular response be to such a turn of events?

                              • Yeah, we don't have the tech to build tiny reactors but we'll eventually get there. (according to BK)
But there will no improvement in battery technology.
