For me, it seems like sore losers acting like what they accusing Trump supporters of doing.
It's almost as if all his overconfident, absolutist assertions were spoonfed to him by a trusted website or subreddit. Sheeple

On my first day in office, my very first goddamn day, I'm going to be signing a new law stopping you goddamn Krauts from spying on good god-fearing Americans! Oh and wait until I dismantle NATO and give my good buddy Vlad (great guy, really great guy) a free pass on taking back East Germany. You losers won't know what's hit you! We're taking back this great country and making it bigger and better than anything you goddamn euro-weenies could ever imagine!

Anyway I'm out now, Ivanka is having a pool party with her college buddies, and I don't need to run the CIA (which I do now by the way) to know a target rich environment when I see one! Reminds me of this time me, Bill and Jeff took a long flight out to the island, boy those were some great times..

It seems that being angry is what it takes now in US politics.

The left was triumphant (too small of group) or resigned (and didn't vote much).

The left needs it's tea party.

The left had its tea party with Occupy and then Bernie, but too many on the centre left refuse to accept that populism can be a force for good as well as bad.

Well, yes, because each side thinks of its POV as the only possible legitimate one. Now, are these people going to resign themselves to four years of getting stomped, followed by four years of revenge stomping--which is tiresome, but not totally ruinous--or are they going to start burning **** for real come Jan. 21st? Because if it's the latter, things could get out of control very quickly.

                    • It wasn't enough. Probably both the fault of BLM/Occupy/BernieBros and the DLC.

The fact that the DLC didn't realize they needed them is definitely purely the fault of the DLC. If the DLC had supported BLM/Occupy/Bernie more maybe those groups would have been more successful.

americans are very self centered protestant beasts. They have an inate distrust of the state and prefer to handle issues (such as healthcare, personal security) on their own with the known disasterous results.

Socialism needs a certain amount of trust in the state in order to work.

Compare the self centerness, atomicism of the average american to that of a dane where bragging about a personal achievenmt is completely frowned upon whereas bragging for collective achievements is through the roof

                          • I don't condone acts of violence. Getting organized for 2018 is best and so is pushing Democrats to gridlock anything Trump tries to do.
For there is [another] kind of violence, slower but just as deadly, destructive as the shot or the bomb in the night. This is the violence of institutions -- indifference, inaction, and decay. This is the violence that afflicts the poor, that poisons relations between men because their skin has different colors. - Bobby Kennedy (Mindless Menance of Violence)

Just ask yourself why you think that. It was a spontaneous uprising of huge numbers of people who weren't led by a recognizable figure or a polished leader, it was just normal people who were angry and didn't think what was happening was fair. I can't think of anything MORE serious than the kind of fury it takes for normal everyday westerners to walk out onto the streets en masse and protest without a celebrity or a politician sparking it and calling for them to participate.

                              • In both Brexit and this pres. election the results were basically a leap in the dark. Looks like Americans will find out first what it's all about (jan and beyond) while Brexit will be a long story before we are sure what it's going to be like.
