that's true of course. the problem is that when both sides' discourse boils down to '**** you [insert group here]', then that is very unlikely to create a good society.

browsing the liberal/left-wing sites, i see a lot of articles talking about 'how white people, and how white women in particular, betrayed us'. if i wanted to enhance white racial consciousness and drive whites to voting en bloc, i honestly couldn't think of a better way to do it. the imbecility of these people defies belief.

    • Trump didn't really win a greater percentage of whites then Romney or McCain did. In fact I think he did slightly worse with white women. But the truth is Democrats failed to get out their own base and they paid the price for it. Detroit and Philadelphia are two key areas where this went wrong.

I'm not going to blame white people. There is plenty of blame to go around.

      • The reason the Dems didn't come out to vote was simple. HILLARY.
The Dems have only themselves to blame. They put up a crappy candidate and she lost.

That I will agree with. There were better candidates out there for sure.

          • Are we searching scapegoats? In that case HD television killed Hillary, she just didn't represent the Fitness Level required for a presidency!!11! Look how Obama looked after leaving the office, she'd most likely died in office!

            Am I doing this right?

            • She perhaps wasn't the right candidate to motivate her base.

              • By the way, some were asking if Hillary will keep her popular vote lead. Definitely. Most outstanding ballots are from California and New York. We have many mail in ballots too here.

WASHINGTON (AP) — Despite losing Tuesday's presidential election, Hillary Clinton appears to be on pace to win the popular vote, an ironic twist in an election in which her opponent repeatedly said the system was rigged against him.

She probably will wind up winning 1.2-1.5 million more votes than he did. Turnout wasn't bad in California. In fact good. If she does win the popular vote by 50-51% maybe it is time to get rid of the electoral college. Republicans won't ever want to do it though.

A bit meaningless in the bigger picture, but this shows he does not have a mandate to do whatever he wants, unless he wants the GOP to lose in 2018 (repeat of the 2006 midterms).

I also must say it is ironic that Trump just days before railed against the electoral college, yet it is the very thing that got him elected. He surely would have lost if we had a truly democratic system.

One other note, the national polling saying 50-51% may have been not far off. National polling could have been slightly more accurate than state polling for sure.

                • What can you expect from my Presidency? Well, I'm glad you asked..

First of all, I think we all need to just stop a minute and remember a few things. I'm not even in the White House yet, and I'm already the single greatest President this great country has ever known. That's not just words, like those goddamn liberal 'experts' like to spout, that's goddamn genuine American fact. Did President Lincoln ever save a lost child in New York at Christmas? How about that Kenyan fella? Did President Ford have his own golf course in Scotland and the best goddamn hotel in America with his own name on it? No they goddamn did not, only this President, President Donald J. Trump has achieved these incredibly great achievements. So why did I do all these things that no other loser wannabe President has ever come close to goddamn achieving? Well I'll tell you a little story..

A long time ago my father (great guy, really great guy) came to me when I was just a little guy and he said to me "Son, you can be any goddamn thing in this great country that you goddamn want". My mother (really great woman, heart of gold, I tell ya if she wasn't my mother I'd have been banging that) was there too and she asked me "So what do you want to be Don?". First thing that popped into my head, I didn't even hesitate for one goddamn moment, I just said right there and right then.. "One day I will be President of the goddamn United States of Goddamn America, and there isn't a goddamn thing any of those losers out there can do to stop me!".

Guess what knuckleheads? I was right then, and I'm right now. I've already achieved more than anyone else, but I also work harder than anyone goddamn else. The next four years aren't going to be easy, I'm going to roll up my sleeves (metaphorically obviously, do you know how much this goddamn shirt cost?), and put America back to work. It's going to be beautiful I tell ya, there's going to be all the different races standing shoulder to shoulder, New Englanders, Aryans, Appalachians, all those beautiful white faces pushing together to rebuild our hotels and our golf courses and our Presidential statues. You can't imagine quite how great and how beautiful it's going to be, because only I have the kind of imagination necessary. Trust me though, it's going to be great.

                        • I'd guess the same, I didn't find it boring. I like the style. A tad predictable, but then so is Trump.

Which, for me, raises the question of whether the silly rioting like we see in Oakland is just losers venting or a longer-term trend. It's going to be a long two months and change.
