Okay, what can we realistically expect from a Trump presidency?

Do they deserve the pain and suffering? Frankly, nobody deserves it. The fact that you claim they DESERVE it pretty much shows your true colors.
Feel free to call Trump the candidate of hate, but don't forget to look in the mirror to see what hate looks like.
They didn't vote in big enough numbers. They are unfortunately the unintended victims of a bad choice (often in many states it was even closer).

I was giving a prediction on unemployment. Trump is going to be awful. I think I was being a tad bit optimistic.

Even though they voted for your candidate... Stay Classy.

More than just a prediction... "I think 10% nationally and 15-20% in the Midwest. Hopefully very high for Midwest states. They deserve it."

That's venom and hate dripping from your lips. Wishing pain and suffering on people... WOW.

Much lower. Our main concern with Clinton was that she may have decided to start another "short victorious war". For example, a no-fly zone in Syira is an obvious start of WW3, and that was one of Clinton's plans.

If they are going to make me suffer and others suffer, then they reap what they sow.

It is still interesting how Trump is below even McCain in popular votes. A hair under. This should be concerning for republicans for the future.

The Democrats failed to turn out their base. It is as simple as that. 4-5 million votes less than 2012.

In the end... Hillary may hit 60 million votes. Donald probably 59.5 million. He doesn't have a mandate to do whatever he wants. Even a depressed turnout by democrats produced more votes. You may say... California. Every vote should matter. Time to eliminate the electoral college.

Wasn't going to happen. It's just your hyperbolic way of saying you don't like Hillary. (Plenty of people do the same with Trump. He's going to end the world too according to them.)

Both sides like to bluster a lot, but no one's ever actually pushed the button yet.

                • The electoral college does suck. But it would require a constitutional amendment, and good luck getting 66% congress and 75% of the states to agree on anything ever again.

The more likely way to get around it is: http://www.nationalpopularvote.com/

yes, up to a point, but what difference does it make in practical terms? 'trump won't be able to say that and succeed politically' isn't all that different from 'trump won't be able to do that and succeed politically'.

                    • Some of it is "Trump may be able to do that, but it will negatively affect this other thing."

For instance, even Trump has accepted that his proposed tariffs will make consumer goods more expensive, so people will have to buy less things. ("People will buy fewer cars in their lifetime.") No one doubts that it's possible to impose 35% tariffs ... they just doubt whether it's a good thing to do or not.

Also, Trump is going to have a limited amount of political capital like all other presidents. They can't do everything they want even with a friendly Congress.

                      • sure, but we don't really know what trump, who after all has said a lot of contradictory things, will do.

the left still does not seem to understand that screaming 'racist!' 'fascist!' 'homophobe!' at half the population because they disagree with their views is not a viable strategy.
Not that the Right is any more eager to reconcile. As I've said before, Trump is not nearly so worrisome as the conditions which gave rise to him, and which he has exacerbated.

                          • More likely we'll see, once again, that the president is more a product of the times than the cause of what happens.

The democrats gained some in Congress and do have the power to stop him. If the Democrats lost seats in Congress it would be a different story.

He needs consent from Congress to do many of these things. If he causes damage to the US economy, 2018 will not be favorable and he could become a lame duck going into 2020.

So the truth is without a resounding win and with more Americans actually voting against him than for, he could have even less political capital.

                              Paralysis as I said.
