    • I'm not sure how you're supposed to earnestly reach out to people who want things that simply can't happen without harming others (mass deportations, trade wars, technological regression), and don't want things that can help that are possible (increase minimum wage/earned income, higher taxes on the wealthy, empower unions, etc). I mean, you don't have to spit in their faces of course ... but to pander to such is simply not a good thing.

          Seemed to work for Trump.
It's almost as if all his overconfident, absolutist assertions were spoonfed to him by a trusted website or subreddit. Sheeple

          • To me that's not earnest, if you really aren't going to do anything to help them out. And they make it hard to help them.

I don't think Hillary could sell it even if it was true. Definitely not with all the ties/leaks/speaking fees with Wall Street.

Bill can sell it even if it's false.

I was using "good" in a moral sense.

              • Politics has devolved to who can lie the best, who can promise the most.

If this year taught us nothing else, it's that morality just doesn't matter anymore.

                • Slightly better more of the same is helping them out (slightly).

And being cared for can cause significant change. Like maybe they might start looking at other paths to improving their lives.

But yes, Hillary can't and is unwilling to do so. And Bill was good at faking.

                  • I think Bernie was earnest. Not sure what would have happened with him in the general though. He has some big C Communist ties in his past, which probably doesn't go over any better with the angry white male voters than Hillary's corporate cronyism.

                    • Hard to tell, but I think he would have done better. I would have voted for him and I'm sure some of the other ANYBODY But Trump republicans would have too, but you're right, you never know how it would have gone.

                      • Honestly, I intended to vote early. I twice went to vote and got in line and then decided it wasn't worth it.

I had to struggle to make myself take time of work on Nov 8 to go vote (there happened to be no line, if there had been a long line maybe I would have ended up not voting?).

It wouldn't have been like that for me if Bernie had been the candidate. And maybe other people didn't give it 3 tries and just ended up not voting.

                        • There were many other important races on the ballot (or at least in my precinct) that were an incentive to go vote.
(even though voting for judges just seems silly since at least 95% of the people have no idea who is who)

                            So sadly true....

                            • I try to get a list of recommendations from the Bar association or the Local Paper, which helps identify the real bozos, but then you're totally using someone else's opinion and that just doesn't seem right. (but still better than going in blind)
If a high profile judge did something scandalous, that would be the only way I would recognize a name.
And then there are the morons that pick based totally on what they can guess from the name.

This. Notice how states like Wisconsin, Michigan, Pennsylvania, and Ohio went for Trump. That was the rust belt tired of being ignored and although they might not have trusted Trump's promises to get tough on trade policy the reality is Hqillary completely ignored their concerns just as the Democratic Party has done for the last 30 years.

Folks need to read the cracked article about why half of America is ****ing insane as well as Michael Moore's article on where he predicted a Trump victory. Thst is right, folks, Michael f'ing Moore is now the voice of readon compared to the loonies crying racism and other horse ****.
