No. Ben is a nutcase. I am not.

Still don't like me lol? Too bad.

Well, like is maybe a strong work, I like your opinions, I support them myself.

The way you rationalize your behaviour towards Ben, nah, I get it, but I don't like it.

I guess that makes it +/- 0 at this point?

But we are all different and we handle things differently of course.

                • Ben has never, ever changed. He has always been this way.
A strange statement, given that I've posted on Apolyton longer than I have beem a Catholic. Yes, I've changed. Actually quite a bit over the years.

No. You were always a fanatic on here and have been for decades. Going from one kind of christian fanatic to another doesn't change the fact you are still a fanatic.

And you don't have a clue where I'm coming from with my beliefs and thoughts.

                      • if you put a price on water, there will be people who cannot afford to pay that price.
If there were in fact a 'right to water' then the utility service could not cut you off. But they can and do.

You just added 'self-sufficiency' because it suits your own beliefs. The time when the declaration was made, self sufficiency was just a part of life because there was no viable alternative for a lot of people.
So you're argument is that "I just added it", but then you stated, "self-sufficiency was just a part of life". Hrm. If it was just a part of life, isn't it reasonable to presuppose that it was one of the virtues that the Founding Fathers desired?

Of course it was intended to put checks on the state
How is the statement that the state has an obligation to provide water, "a check on the power of the state?" It's not. It's the exact opposite.

scream like a little ***** about a right that has basically no significance any more in the face of a military that could not be stopped by citizen owned firearms.
If it had no significance, why are you arguing against it? Clearly it does have significance. Those who own guns in the US are far larger than the military. Every single oppressive dictatorship has enacted gun control be it Mao, Hitler, etc. An armed populace can resist a tyrant.

Every facet of your life has depended on subsidized, socialized services. Every time you drive down the street you're using infrastructure that was built using the wealth of society to provide a service to society. Yet apparently ensuring every citizen has access to the most fundemental resource of all, water, is some evil drain on the public purse.
Let's see. In Texas - which doesn't have income taxes, where the roads are paid for - but that doesn't mean I'm paying for someone else to have a water bill. And yes, I'm opposed to that, and yes I have a personal grudge against this particular benefit. You're right that I should pay for my portion - which I do, through my water bill.

Why should you be expected to pay for your neighbours water? Because you're a human being (sort of) who has benefited by the countless trillions of dollars former and current Canadian and American tax payers contributed to build those countries which allowed you to survive, get an educate (although we have our doubts..), and eventually relocate to a far away place where you actually wanted to be.
I paid for my education, one. Two, I repaid Canada for the year or so that I took out loans. Three, I was very nearly *excluded* by the power of the state due to my disability from attending public school - so had the general consensus at the time prevailed, I would have been deprived an education. Four, I paid for my relocation costs, and had to relocate because there were not that many jobs up here.

How exactly has Canada benefitted me? I could argue the exact opposite, that despite everything Canada has been a net drain to me, and the US has been a net benefit. People who emigrate, generally don't do so if they are getting the benefits that the state provides...

Turn the clock back 200 years like your childish fantasies and you'd be stuck in a dead end ****ty job in the town you grew up in and you'd probably die there too.
How is working as a smith or in a mill a 'childish fantasy'?

You are quite literally the most selfish person posting here. The idea of helping other people to ensure they (and the very society you live in) thrive and flourish is just something beyond your apparent comprehension. It's kind of sad that you're such a very broken individual, who struggles with concepts other people find
                        natural.
No, sir. You are insisting that other people pay for what you do not want to pay. I pay for my own water, TYVM. I will never let anyone else pay for my damn water, because I have had to go without because the ******* drank up my rent.

Try doing that for a month, plus, and having to shower at school, while at the same time maintaining a professional image. Grrr. Boils my blood it did, and I couldn't fix it until I threatened to leave. In the middle of damn school. I did leave like a month later.

                          • By the way, Texas take larges amount of federal money for it's infrastructure. The state is nearing insolvency. Those roads you drive on are still funded by taxes. Texas is so broke they need to now raise sales taxes dramatically.

A more careful look would suggest that my positions have gradually hardened over the years. Apolyton has contributed to that.

I've been a secular atheist longer than I've been a Christian, though that will change in a couple years when it finally flips the other way.

So you went from a Christian Taliban-like fanatic to an Christian ISIS-like fanatic? Wow thanks for sharing.

Your second paragraph is a complete pile of bull****. You were never an atheist. Nobody flips like that into lala land.
