      By the way, Texas take larges amount of federal money for it's infrastructure. The state is nearing insolvency. Those roads you drive on are still funded by taxes. Texas is so broke they need to now raise sales taxes dramatically.

            and technologies like water purifications were still unknown, it is no surprise that the constitution didn't include such passages.

            Likewise the only firearms that existed were muskets and, under impression of the war against the english (fought by citizen militias against regfular military) it is no surprise that the founding fathers encouraged the legal possession of firearms by members of said militias.

            With other words, parts of the constitution are just outdated today ... which is why it is a good thing to review such documents from time to time and adapt them to modern times.

              It is strange that we argue "the times have changed" as an argument to rescind the second amendment rather than the first. Why is this?

              If, as you argue, times have changed, why should the constitution have any authority whatsoever?

              Again, the principle behind it is so that the people would be able to resist their government. That has not changed. Look at Stalin, look at Hitler, look at Mao. All of them did gun control prior to seizing power.
