A TATTOO claiming ‘Only God can judge me’, has been proved wrong by a local judge.

Ben Kenobi of Goddamning, Texas, appeared in court charged with a spate of no-cake baking and displaying body art stating that only a Biblical entity could pass judgement upon him.

Judge Fisher said, “It may well be the case that only some sort of deity responsible for all life on Earth can judge you in the afterlife. But in this life, I’m judging you. I’m also sentencing you to four months in prison.”

Kenobi said: “This is exactly what they did to Jesus. Or similar at least.”

He's talking about sales taxes on yachts. They hit the wealthy far harder than the working poor.

What brought me to the Catholic faith are the lives of the folks that I admire. I have met some who will one day be canonized. There are people like this in the Anglican faith too.

Not really a surprise ... what would one do if certain luxury items become expensive due to taxes?

Either not buy them (after all they are luxury and therefore not a necessary part of life) or try to buy items of the same category overseas and take care that they get taxed via the sales taxes in that foreign country

It blows my mind that some peoples response to this was 'lets not tax them!'. How about that luxury yacht company shift into small scale boat building to supply the millions of potential customers who now have a little disposable income?

Just for clarification, it was just a repeal of the EXTRA tax. The regular sales tax always applied.

The truly wealthy have no income whatsoever. Sales tax hits them harder than income taxes - they don't pay income taxes because they aren't earning an income.

Consumption taxes really target them very harshly. Are you this stupidly ignorant in person?

Not really. Income taxes hit them harder due to withholding. If the two are set to the same level, income taxes deprives them of their money as soon as they make it whereas consumption won't hit them and can be spread out over a paycheck.

Consumption taxes are also inadequate for the state to cover expenses.

They are sufficient for Texas.

This is why significant parts of Texas have seen credit downgrades and are literally running out of money. All those so called "California transplants" you talk about may lose their jobs.

They came to Texas because they lost their California jobs, and certain Cali municipalities have already gone bankrupt.
