For those who aspire to live in a high cost, high tax, big government place, our nation and the world offers plenty of options. Vermont, Canada and Venezuela all offer you the opportunity to live in the socialist, big government paradise you long for. –Senator Rubio

            • So, the decision to hold a second referendum wouldn't come out of thin air
Yeah, I'm sure that would go over well telling the majority of Britain that they can't leave. EU has already been criticized for the nonsense of 'voting until you get it right'. If one vote is enough to get in then one vote is enough to leave.

Is there *any* serious opposition to PR going independent? Apart from people living in PR that is.

I'm pretty sure that's supposed to be Texas.

                      • Texas already tried being independent once and in less than 20 years they racked up so much debt they were happy to be annexed inexchange for someone else paying off their debt.

They had something like 70k people back then and over a million square miles of territory. Now? Texas would be smaller than Poland, but larger than Rumania. They would be the 9th largest state in Europe by population and the second largest area wise, with only Russia being larger. Economy wise, they are larger than Spain.

                          • Texas ranks second in receiving federal money. They just could not make up for that if they went independent without going into debt again.

Does the UK have that problem with regard to the EU?
