You seem to focus on the violence of muslims in the US.

In germany what really happened was a rape.

If we take the last 10 days, I'm positive the largest number of deaths will be in the US side.
I don't know if you think it's "ok" because they weren't any muslims involved though.

I mean, if we keep things in perspective, even with the huge influx of muslims, european societies are safer, more peaceful and far less lethal.

Could it be because compared to the US they are filled with "muslims"?

I don't believe so, but it helps keep things in perspective
Violence is an epidemic in the US, but it's a totally different problem, one that is much harder to deal with.

Americans are more violent. You can't stop Americans from coming to America. They're already here.

                He targeted tourism.

The blue mosque is at the center of tourism in istanbul, a "must see" site.

All terrorist attacks have a strong symbolic and/or functional attachment (if they don't just happen in the framework of an urban warfare setting or something)

The previous terrorist attack in Turkey was far more lethal and had just "muslims" as victims.

The symbolism was also strong there: leftists and kurds died

Change your school system to de-emphasize aggressive sports and bring in strong anti-bullying campaigns. It'll do wonders. England has just as much of a violent culture as America has, but they're making good efforts to teach kids that violence isn't the answer. It'll take time to filter through to the adult population of course, but if you don't start, you'll never achieve anything.

If that worked I'm happy for ya, Ken, but IMO our problem over here is much more deep-rooted. Most obviously, we're armed to the teeth, but there's also strong racial and social dimensions, plus our entire criminal justice system essentially works to turn minor offenders (or sometimes innocent people) into hardened thugs.

Sports serve to give boys a good way to avoid violence, like gangs, and fighting. I don't think not letting kids play American football is the answer. I'm all for anti-bullying campaigns and so is pretty much everyone else. I don't like the super violent fighting sports, and I think eventually they will be outlawed. But it's still a much harder problem to deal with because Americans don't like to give up their freedoms.

You have some particularly American issues, but other countries have their own particular issues. Most of them start off with how children are raised to deal with their problems. I don't disagree about the criminal justice reform though, hopefully President Bernie will manage to make the reforms he wants to.

Sports aren't a problem per se, but the physicality of American Football and more importantly the cult of hero worship around high school sports plays a part. I have a suspicion that American football isn't going to continue for that much longer as a school sport though if the studies showing widespread brain damage to frightening numbers of players turn out to be accurate.

Don't count your chickens. How many kids get brain damage?

I hope that more kids come to worship Jesus instead of football players though.

There have been some studies showing vastly increased levels of brain trauma in people who have played American Football. I don't remember how deeply they went into the effects at high school age, but I can see parents turning against it in huge numbers if they start to worry their kids are going to end up with brain injuries.
