  • I cant be all wrong. most in law makers seem to agree. if they didn't I would think more laws would be passed.

The perps were following a perversion of Islam so that makes it like 1000x worse than a regular killing event.

At least 1000x. I mean... sharia law

        HELLO CAPTAIN PEDANT

Between 1982 and late 2011, mass shootings occurred about every 200 days. But after September 2011, the rate of mass shootings increased to about once every 64 days, according to the Harvard researchers.
The murder of nine people at a church in Charleston, South Carolina, isn't an isolated tragedy. It's just the latest mass shooting in America.

Seems if someone wasn't familiar with the exact figures, saying "monthly" to describe something that happens once every 60 days wouldn't be horribly inaccurate. If anything, he should be given credit for guessing the frequency with pretty good accuracy.

I'd hazard to say he had/has a greater understanding of the facts than you.

It makes it a hell of a lot harder to rack up a body count.

Except you aren't. There actually was a mass stabbing in a Chinese school at the same time as the Sandy Hook attack. 23 people stabbed, no deaths.

Obviously people die from stabbings across the world, but its just considerably harder to kill someone with a knife than it is a gun, which is why guns took off in the first place. If you're a troubled kid, or a physically weak but unstable adult, the likelihood that you can cause mass death to others is just greatly reduced. Not prevented certainly, but unarguably reduced. For most western countries that calculation became a no brainer. If you can stop 90% of buildings from falling down by bringing in a law about construction methods, then why would you not do that just because 10% will fall anyway?

This is just revisionist nonsense though. That golden age where every family was a stable unit, and kids all had manners and were well behaved just never existed except in the imaginations of 50's movie makers. This really can't be repeated enough, crime is decreasing year on year. Its reported as higher than it was back in say the 50's, but its also worth remembering that a lot of violent crime never went reported in the past, particularly domestic abuse which was incredibly common but generally not even considered a crime.

This idea that youngsters today are wild feral creatures with no morals just isn't born out by any actual evidence.

So 1 in France is equivalent to over 100 in the U.S. (in the last 10 to 15 years), because neither is once a month on average?
One day Canada will rule the world, and then we'll all be sorry.

                    Food for thought.

Cause. Effect. That sort of thing.
All of the Republicans actively court white supremacists and just casually prejudiced whites. Just like they all actively work to suppress the nonwhite vote.

Things are either accurate or inaccurate. Defending a point as not being "horribly inaccurate" makes very little sense.

For those who aspire to live in a high cost, high tax, big government place, our nation and the world offers plenty of options. Vermont, Canada and Venezuela all offer you the opportunity to live in the socialist, big government paradise you long for. –Senator Rubio

I guess this is where we just disagree. nothing wrong with that.

Black and white thinking is a symptom of many mental illnesses.

Nuance exists. Gray areas exist. Spectrums exist. If you are too stupid to understand that 60 is a better guess than 100 or 200, then I can't help you.

Well, the only thing wrong about that is that you are wrong.

That's not necessarily a moral failing. It just means you are ignorant.
