You'd be in so much trouble if that wasn't true

As long as a thread title change is ok by the thread starter it's ok with me.

I find the whole concept rather amusing, fwiw.

              • seems he said render unto Caesar and do not resist evil-doers
He also told the soldier that he was fine continuing his job. Did he condemn the soldier?

                • Italian independence wars don't count because reasons. Garibaldi was a deist or something.
The pope was on one side of that war.

Jesus told a Roman soldier to go right ahead and kill Jews but told Jews not to resist evil-doers? What verse does that appear in?

Oh right, the wrong side. IIRC it was after that war that the bishop of Rome published a formal document condemning democracy, civil liberties and human rights. I'm not sure, was that edict ever specifically rescinded?

                      • heya Ben, soldiers executed Jesus and while he was on the cross he asked his Father to forgive them

why did they need forgiveness if Jesus and his Father were "fine" with what they were doing?

And those soldiers didn't even ask to be forgiven...

                        • The more Ben talks about Jesus, the more Jesus sounds like a white-washed L. Ron Hubbard 200 years later.

If you're referring to the Syllabus of Errors, he certainly had a bone to pick with the 'democratic' forces, given their confiscation of the Papal States without compensation and all the assassination attempts.

They were executing an innocent civilian. How does this pertain to fighting a war?
