You know Kentonio, I'm an atheist too but I generally manage to not be condescending to Christians about it.

a) It wasn't being condescending. Elok misread a dig at Ben as a dig at him (because Christians are apparantly a bunch of pussies who take things far too personally). I then responded by being nasty because I was drunk and was unable to just shout "Stop being a ****ing moron!" at him across a room.

b) You're American, being condescending is something you lot major in.

c) Both being athiests doesn't mean we're part of a club. I don't care how you treat religion.

If I thought they were just a bunch of liars, surely I'd have said Ben would make a great priest? There's a difference between believing different things and believing anyone who disagrees with you is a liar.

Religion doesn't work like that in the UK, it's largely the church's job to sell people on religion here, rather than religion being the default.

As I said, it was a dig at Ben, not a dig (or lecture) to you. Perhaps the internet needs a specific sarcasm font, or perhaps you just need to be a little less sensitive.

I will say something then you take it you lock it in a drawer and you never let it out.
During a conversation with ben (about family/marriage) long time ago while slightly (sic) tipsy I did get the feeling that he was trying to help me basing what he said on a dogma and trying not to derivate from it.
Of course many of other things he says are like argh then bye.
