    • Again, you're being dishonest in representing what was said to twist "mental state used for authentication" to "passwords are brain scans".
Uh, that *was* your argument, that passwords = mental states = brain scans.

Neither chain works. Mental states! = brain scans, and neither do passwords equal mental states. I'm also not sure why we're having this silly conversation in a thread about the personhood of the unborn. Perhaps we should start a new thread?

The only way you haven't already lost that bet
You've defined yourself as right. I'm not sure what else there is to say. Good luck with that, Aeson.

A password in memory is a segment of your mental state. A method of retrieving that memory and translating it into a machine readable format is already existant. So contrary to your claim that such a method of authentication will never be used, a form of it already is used.

Nowhere did I say a password is a brain scan. That's just your absurd strawman.

Reality confirms I'm right. You as always are taking issue with obvious facts and throwing up strawmen.

I'm sure you can continue to think of ridiculously stupid and inapplicable things to say...

Not really. Most passwords are recalled through muscle memory through repetition.

          Where?

Well, since you have proof, let's see that proof.

            • It's just a part of your brain that is unique and can be differentiated from anyone else's brain

I'm not sure why Ben is even trying to argue with aeson about this :

              • Naw, he's just hoping that if he keeps tweaking his argument he'll eventually stumble into being right.
History has shown us the futility of this but he hasn't learned it yet. Surprising from someone that claims to teach History.

                • If it comes to not learning from experience, y'all are still bothering to argue with him, and you're considerably cleverer so it reflects more poorly on you than his failure does on him.

                  • Actually I have greatly reduced my arguing with him for just that reason and now just insult him.

                              It's actually pretty easy.

                              • Arguing with Ben is fun sometimes. He's been gone a while, surely we can spot him is an abortion thread (and/or abortion of a thread) as a welcome back.

Since Ben's claim is "never", we can completely ignore his attempt to make it about muscle memory, at least until he claims that all password recollection and input is solely muscle memory.

As for how to test if a person's mental state can be used for authentication, and be sure it's not just muscle memory ... we can change Ben's password, send him an email with his new password in it in a form that requires mental manipulation to decipher the password (so no copy-paste), then see if his mind is able to process that information then translate it into machine readable format. If Ben ever logs in again, it will confirm he was wrong.
