Just how many posts in this thread started with something along the lines of "Russia was starting to join the world community" type stuff.

Where do you think those impressions were formed? A lot of it was impacted by the Media. The same one you say as always portrays Russian as the rabid dog.

Obviously that wasn't the case or the people wouldn't have been saying what they were.

People started responding negatively when Russia reverted to previous stereotypes. Then you're surprised when the media calls you out on it.
