Onodera, the Ukrainians have none while Putin has spent a lot of money modernizing his forces.

The Ukrainians have enough recon drones to cover the hotspots of the frontline. We're not giving as many to the insurgents.

Meanwhile, the Ukraine pretty much has stagnated as politicians and oligarchs stole everything not nailed down.

Well, this is the only part where you are not 100% wrong.

That remains the big reason for the people rising up against their government and demanding better.

There were no big reasons, plenty of little reasons snowballed into something big enough.

The current government has actually started cracking down on corruption and has even allowed outside audits to help ferret out more corruption. It remains to be seen how dedicated they are at this task but if sustained it would be great news.

On a scale of 0 to Romania, they are at the moment at the level of Sicily.

It is more an admission of weakness than anything else. The regime blocks all of their websites and marginalizes them on state controlled media (which is all tv and most radio) so that most Russians only ever see regime propaganda but it is nice to see the opposition at least trying to do something against the dictatorship.

Oerdin there is no one who can help the Ukrainians but themselves.
I they were an united country that knew what they wanted and what it takes to achieve it they would have non of the problems they currently have.
So far they seem to be loosing despite massive home court advantage. They are clearly disorganized, corrupt and incompetent. No amount of military help will cure that.

I am basing that one a BBC news clip which had Ukrainian soldiers saying the ammo they have says it was made during WW2. A quick search of wiki says the Soviets produced huge amounts of it in WW2 so their claim sounds believable to me.

Meh, they only gave them old stuff from the 80's and the Russians already have equivalent stuff. Without the passwords the Russians can't even turn it on but even if they could why not give some of the older stuff sitting in a warehouse to a friendly government which is trying to defend itself from a foreign invader? True, it won't solve all of their problems but it does help them better defend themselves and that is a good thing.

Aside from a nuclear war, there is no military solution to this conflict.

Doc, Russia has been using equipment which is a generation newer including T-90 tanks. The Ukrainians have said their two biggest needs are drones and anti-tank missiles. They say Russia has made extensive use of drones so they have real time info of what the battlefield looks like while Ukrainians don't have that so they would like the Americans to give them that ability.

Let's see. We have a guy standing near a road sign in Ukraine. We have a picture of tanks, location unknown, and we have a picture of a guy with tanks, location unknown. We don't have a picture of a guy with tanks in Ukraine. Note that the article says this guy had special "survivalist" training, i.e., Spec Ops training. Might he have been entered Ukraine without his tank?

The arming of Ukraine only makes sense in the dick measuring context between Russia and US. It would only hurt the people of Ukraine. US's involvment is this whole mess is no less despicable than Russia's. Neither you nor your government give two ****s about the Ukrainians. They world gives Russia the lowest approval rating and the highest disapproval rating in the entire world. While the US approval rating has actually bounced back so that it now gets the highest approval rating world wide. Putin makes the US look good.

It is a shame Putin's state controlled popaganda media has the Russian people so ignorant and misinformed. You'd figure Russians would be smart enough to see through the obvious propaganda (we have no troops in Crimea, I don't know where they came from) but I guess not.
