                              Care to cite the party breakdowns of the Civil Rights Act? Oh wait.

                              61 percent of Democrats supported the bill vs 80 percent of Republicans. Democrats also filibustered to prevent it's passage.

                                I do not support reconstruction. Neither, for that matter, did many of the republicans in the north support reconstruction because they believed it was too harsh. They were right.

                                Texas spent 100 years under sole democrat rule. Reconstruction achieved absolutely nothing, aside from ensuring that the democrats continued to dominate the south.
