There was a famous court case involving the Indiana KKK, but that's far from the same thing as Indiana being the source of the KKK

If it was a southern institution, why were it's largest chapters in the North?Scouse Git (2) La Fayette Adam Smith Solomwi and Loinburger will not be forgotten.

I'm not seeing in your link where it says that Indiana had the largest chapter. I do see where it says that it had 250,000 members, but with an estimated nationwide membership of 6,000,000 in 1924 it hardly seems likely that a state with 250,000 members would qualify as having the most members out of any state.Originally posted by Ben Kenobi View PostIf it was a southern institution, why were it's largest chapters in the North?<p style="font-size:1024px">HTML is disabled in signatures

South Korean racism:
A teacher from the Republic of Ireland has been turned down for a job in South Korea due to the "alcoholism nature" of Irish people. To us, it is the BEAST.

I see. Changing the subject to evade the uncomfortable point that:From 1882 to 1968 Indiana lynched 47 people: 33 white, 17 black. During the same time period Mississippi lynched 581 people: 42 white, 539 black.
1, the Klan of the 20s had nothing whatsoever to do with the Confederacy.
2, the Klan had far, far more to do with the whole eugenicist movement of the early teens and 20s.
3, the Klan had far more success recruiting in the apparently 'not racist' north than in the south.Scouse Git (2) La Fayette Adam Smith Solomwi and Loinburger will not be forgotten.

Why would that be so hard to believe? 250k over 25 states is more than 6 and a quarter.I'm not seeing in your link where it says that Indiana had the largest chapter. So you think that "official" Klan membership by state is a better indication of white supremacy than lynching statistics by state?Originally posted by Ben Kenobi View PostI see. Changing the subject to evade the uncomfortable point that:

Well, Ben seems to be right here.
Mississippi had its own Klan chapter, but only late (from the 60s on).
Although they held up the great tradition of the Klan with regards to murdering innocents.

Did I say that? No. Proteus was the one who brought up the Klan, which had it's greatest successes in recruitment from the decidedly not racist north. If you're going to argue that white supremacy stopped north of Mason Dixon, I'm afraid you've got a difficult road ahead of you.So you think that "official" Klan membership by state is a better indication of white supremacy than lynching statistics by state?Scouse Git (2) La Fayette Adam Smith Solomwi and Loinburger will not be forgotten.

But now you've given him the chance to claim that Klan membership is the only indicator white supremacy, and he's never going to let that goOriginally posted by Proteus_MST View PostWell, Ben seems to be right here.

Unfortunately true. The huge carving into the side of Stone Mountain of Generals Lee, Longstreet, and Jackson was a famed meeting point for the Klan.Originally posted by loinburger View PostThe second KKK was founded in Atlanta Georgia in 1915, NOT in Indiana
White Supremacist Month is a good name for Confederate Heritage Month, but Traitor Heritage Month works too (seriously they get more pissed at being called Traitors than White Supremacists - like they acknowledge that part of it)“I give you a new commandment, that you love one another. Just as I have loved you, you also should love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.”
