      • Paul was not making any judgement regarding slavery or women's rights. He was addressing a specific problem existing in the church. That is, people using the church for their political protests. Paul was saying this is no place for your politics. Leave it outside before you enter the church.

That's just what some middle-class white converts call it. Y'know, like "Khaytlyn, Jaksyn! Hurry up and get in the minivan, we'll be late for the Khoran Reedyng!"

            • Yes, but when we say tomato we pronounce it correctly.

The difficulties of translating Arabic into England makes this more accurate than Koran. Though Qur'an is probably the best. I'll allow it

                        • But that doesn't particularly change things in terms of it being imperfect and provisional; however, because the gist ends up being slaves are to be obedient, and we now would not wish that upon slaves, but would be for their attempts to rise up from bondage.
The point is extended to Christians married to non-Christians. The Church does not call for them to divorce their wives, and makes the point that service to God in the form of obedience to your station is a perfectly valid way of serving Him. That being said - the bible teaches that it is not wrong for a slave to desire true freedom and to obtain that freedom. The bible does not say, "slavery was instituted by God, tough ****s", it says precisely the opposite.

You've brought this point up a number of times. I'm curious as to why you consistently misrepresent the Christian position here. You're a convert. It's your job to get this right.

(well, except for Ben - I'm not joking, he has used this verse and the one from Colossians to claim that slaves that rose against their masters were violating what God wanted).
Christ. I did nothing of the sort. The only one arguing that Christianity supports slavery is you, Imran. I explicitly pointed out that scripture teaches that (and goes so far to point it out), that a slave who can obtain their freedom should do so.

                          • Christian earthly authority complicates things. We aren't to punish sin. But comparing modern Christianity to Islam is absurd.
What is wrong doesn't change. How the Church should respond to this is not the same as the instructions delivered specifically to the Jewish people and the nation of Israel.

Right now we've got this backwards - it's the Christians who are being fired for standing up for their beliefs and for speaking the truth that sin is sin.

Idk what you are responding to. Is it "Christians should not punish people for sin?" The debt has been paid.
