Anyway, I don't need to be your pal. I don't need to prove I'm right and you're wrong. But I really do get sick of the incessant sniping, and I cannot believe they aren't (to some extent) motivated by personal malice. Let it go.

I'm just writing how I feel, man. Don't censor me!
Seriously Elok. I hardly ever post about you. And I'm fairly blunt with a lot of posters here. Some I've been outright cruel to to the point I'm actually remorseful over it. But you, I hardly ever respond to you or post about you. But the few times I do, man, you treat it like. . .like. . .I wiped my **** on your drapes. . .yes, that's metaphor I'm looking for.
And finally, you called a critically acclaimed movie a turd (which in itself is asking for negative attention) and then rather than try to be an "edgy" contrarian about it, you actually tried to justify that opinion with weak-ass Writing 101 drivel. If you don't think that doesn't put a target on you, then you have some situational awareness issues.
Anyway, I'll try to respect your sensitivity and hold my tongue, fingers, penis?Last edited by DaShi; September 2, 2014, 20:50.“As a lifelong member of the Columbia Business School community, I adhere to the principles of truth, integrity, and respect. I think I see the problem now. I don't know if you've noticed, but I'm really a borderline-pathologically conflict-averse person. To the extent that I have social instincts at all, my first is to make myself liked. Possibly it's an aspie thing, I don't know. You can see hints of it in the writing you abhor; I generally pepper my posts with qualifiers to avoid sounding too definitive and provoking an angry retort, I concede my ignorance readily, and I still haven't totally dropped my old adolescent habit of criticizing myself so people feel bad about adding their own criticisms. As a rule, I avoid starting fights, which isn't hard because I don't have that many strong opinions on political subjects, and I've learned to dodge the religious arguments which I do care about, since almost no atheists on here are interested in actual honest discussion of those things. Discussions, I like and seek out. Arguments, I loathe and avoid. Posters who tend to provoke me, I ignore, and they go away, and we're all happy.
But then there's you. Yes, I noticed that you are rude to everyone, but I always assumed that, like most other posters here, you have a set of longstanding grudges based on endless retaliation for some long-forgotten spat--like Israel and Palestine, but with internet drama instead of bombs. Or else you go off on people for offending some particular value you hold dear, and everyone does that. Those, I can understand, but both in theory should have gone away if I simply left you alone. When the personal attacks continued, I assumed that you just had some crazy The Monarch thing going on for me. It honestly never occurred to me that you were that hostile to everyone, whether they'd done anything to offend you deeply or not. That's, uh, kind of messed up, TBH. But that's your business. Frankly, I'd love it if we could just cordially agree to ignore each others' existence, but in the meantime I'll try not to take it too personally.
Not interested in discussing films with you, though I was much more aggressive there than I usually am these days; I tried to tone it down a little in my later posts, with unimpressive results. Anyway, I ****ing hated that movie, but it's not like I'm going to get anyone to slap his forehead and say, "Of course! I have terrible taste in film!" I've already adequately conveyed my dislike, so we might as well drop that subject too.
So, uh . . . my wife notes that taking naked pictures of yourself and storing them on any device which is connected to the internet is a pretty frigging stupid thing to do even if you aren't a celebrity. Discuss?

Additionally, it's cool that you hate the movie. That's fine, a lot of people do and are right to. But that don't make it a bad movie. You could have just as easily said, I don't like it because I like movies with clearly defined conflicts and that movie had this side of none. But instead you go on some pretentious rant that's both wrong and shows how little you actually know storytelling and expect us to be impressed by it. Well, I'm sorry, but the emperor has no clothes.
Hell Elok, you seem like a nice enough person. You don't need to impress us. In fact, you can't. No one who posts here can expect any dignity. Yeeeaaaahhhh, but if you look back, your first response didn't even mention the movie, or my criticism of it; it was just a prolonged personal attack on my writing voice. So I assumed you were just being a knob, especially since you are literally the first person ever to criticize my writing voice--I've had it mentioned multiple times before, by a variety of readers, and always favorably. Anyway, I already conceded that I was too inflammatory, and concede it again if you like. I don't really mean the movie to be the point here.
