Ok. So let's rewind. Why does Liberia ask that question? To screen out people who have possibly been infected with Ebola. So, you're saying the man has compassion and yet he's willing to lie about a crucial component that would screen him and keep him in Liberia. They ask this question explicitly to screen out people like him.

Did he screw up with the airport thing? Yeah sure he did, but then again it's the same kind of screw up most of us would have made in the same position. He was just about to board an expensive flight to see the people he loved, and didn't think there was anything wrong with him. people rarely do, you never expect to have something genuinely life threatening before the fact.

Which part of 'he wasn't showing any symptoms' do you not understand exactly? They test temperature among other things at the airport, and until the symptoms appear he wouldn't have had a clue he had the illness. Yet in your fantasy version he was apparently trying to 'save his own worthless hide' by travelling to America to get treatment for an illness he didn't even know he had? For the same reason most people would lie in that situation, he probably just thought he was fine and didn't want to have a huge disruption to his plans for nothing. Ebola is highly contagious, but it's not airbourne. Sitting back here with the benefit of hindsight it's easy to go 'he must have known!' but in reality it's wildly unlikely that he'd have thought any such thing.

I'm waiting to hear what I'm supposedly wrong about. The airline ringing passengers to give them the contact details for the CDC does not mean the man was symptomatic and highly contagious.
