Did I ever say this wasn't the case? I don't think you could be more patronizing if you started explaining basic arithmetic. At many companies the place is run by the intellectual equals of shaved baboons. I'm perfectly aware of this.Scouse Git (2) La Fayette Adam Smith Solomwi and Loinburger will not be forgotten.

I don't want to make a big deal about the MBA thing. I just received a bit of clarification. Here's what I've been told:
Regarding mid-size to large companies, an MBA or industry-specific Master's degree is all but required for Director level positions and higher. It's very rare to find someone at that level who doesn't have such a degree. Smaller organizations are a different beast. This also varies by industry... but is generally true... generally. Exceptions exist.
For the purpose of this thread, reg works at a small company. My statement does not apply.
Now, can we just argue about abortion and gay marriage? To us, it is the BEAST.

What's funny is that you just agreed with me:

Unless you're a founding member of a software company, if it takes off, don't expect to get a director level job without an MBA or other advanced degree.“As a lifelong member of the Columbia Business School community, I adhere to the principles of truth, integrity, and respect. It's much easier (though not faster) to buy stuff when you work for an MNC, not an SME. People will actually drive to your office to sell you some hardware or software. And you have a procurement dept that knows **** about IT, but drives a hard bargain.Graffiti in a public toilet

I'm a director at one of the largest research companies in the world and I don't have a MBA.
And while ALBY may take the level of brown nosing to the extreme he is correct that it's never a bad idea to connect with your boss over something. It's almost as if all his overconfident, absolutist assertions were spoonfed to him by a trusted website or subreddit. Sheeple

There's a right way and a wrong way to do it. Why would I feign interest in something I don't like just because the boss does, when there are plenty of opportunities to find actual interests.Scouse Git (2) La Fayette Adam Smith Solomwi and Loinburger will not be forgotten.
