These five to four splits are really not good for the court or the country as it shows the court is basically a party line driven political organization.

It only partially agreed with hobby lobby and, as usual, it was a 5-4 decision. It did say that publicly traded companies had to comply but that single owner companies could pick which type of birth control they wanted to but they had to pick at least one.

Well they did slap the President around a bit 9-0 over his overreach on recess appointments.

These five to four splits are far more common in court history than you might think.
No, I did not steal that from somebody on Something Awful.

Does this apply to 5-4 splits where the liberals win? Like the DOMA ruling last year?

Given Hobby Lobby owners' religious zealotry, when will they stop doing business with China?

And yet we had more 9-0 judgements in this court session than any since 1940.

(NB: I read this on volokh, so if it's not true take it up with them, I didn't actually count )

You don't see any hypocrisy in Hobby Lobby screaming in protest of contraceptives, while doing business with a country like China, where abortion is not only legal, but mandated?

You don't see the irony in a gay man fighting for contraception?

I don't see any hypocrisy in Hobby Lobby complaining about the government imposing itself needlessly in a private contract between them and their employees.
